Owner of an 84 VF750F and a Gen V. Looking for a new project.

Stumbled across a very clean  86 VFR with 2000 CBR suspension upgrades, and 10K miles, well.......... any thoughts about the suspension change and approximate value.

Thanks.

Interesting; maybe more pictures from other angles?

The swingarm looks to have some non-stock bracing.

The clutch reservoir is not stock.

The windscreen doesn't look stock.

Great-looking fairings and solo seat.

Assume it is running; $2500 - $3000 would be my limited-knowledge-of-this-bike guess.

Looks like early-ish fireblade front end. Unsure if has the 16 or 17 wheel on though. Certainly better than stock.

Has a CBR rear wheel as well (not sure on width).

Fox rear shock, looks like a nice exhaust from what little can be seen.

Swingarm has been braced. Original mirrors missing. Clutch and brake master cylinders non-original.

No ideas on price as I'm not based in the US! It looks quite a nice bike if you're not bothered about originality.

Looks to be well sorted with some nice equipment and upgrades.

A CBR900RR front end, with the 16" wheel?

Any way I say $3500 easy providing the other side looks the same.

Steering damper as well... Although can't say I've ever thought the VFR needed one! On the FJ I've had it shake it's head once in ~40k... on well worn tyres, with a squared off rear accelerating hard while banked well over and on broken tarmac!

Might be the geometry is a bit off, or might just be for style.

Prob just style.  I mess around with different suspension pieces, ride height in the rear and fork position in the yokes on a few of my 86 VFRs, some quite aggressive.  Never had any issues.

Thanks for the input.

Without damage all the way around.

Supposedly never tracked or raced but built and sorted out by a racer and used as a weekend rider.

2000 era CBR suspension upgrades

Hindle exhaust system

I would be the third owner.

Looking at tomorrow

Another pic

Maybe 1999 CBR900RR forks, but from 2000 on they were inverted.

But that is a sweet looking bike.  What's the asking price?

4K OBO

High 3s seems doable.  But if it is as well sorted as it appears, I wouldn't let it slip away for 1 or 2 hundred bucks.

That is if you're really interested in a 86.

I'll have to say when I put CBR wheels and suspension on one of my builds it was amazing.

Captain 80's...........What a beauty!!!!!!

Not a skinflint myself....you get what you pay for....hopefully.

A couple of bucks is trivial if the overall bike is in great condition.

Tomorrow will tell....hope I can sleep tonight

+1

It took me less than 3 seconds to sell my RC36-2's (aka redslut) front rim to a CBR900/Fireblade owner. He was very happy.

(Despite the crash it was 100% straight/true).

Nice looking bike vifferfour, I wish you a joyful day today! (mine is already started on this side of the pond)

PS: funny to see the boxes at the back in that picture. "real food delivered"   We have a baker shop, butcher shop, grocery store etc in our town for that.....

I saw that listing, I think he was originally asking $5k? I don't know that I'd give 4k for it, but it's probably worth that if it's as well sorted as the pics show. The Hindle pipe is rare, and the upgrades all make sense. Definitely not an original "collector" bike, but this is one you could flog and not worry about.

Pulled trigger on deal but not at asking price of 4K. No way could it rate 5K

The beauty was only skin deep and actually it's saving grace. Bodywork and seat in great condition. It had come out of a collection located around Traverse City in 2016

Seemed to run OK but must have sat for awhile in damp environment; many steel fasteners rusty. Other notes; engine quite dirty, all hydraulic lines need replacing . Clutch slave actuator past leak affected engine paint, I could go on but you get the picture.

To answer the matter with regards to wheel size; fitted 16 front and 17 rear. Fitted with Metzlers that were so slicked up you would wonder if they would hold a turn.

Has potential but.............

Overall definitely not even close to a turn key item; in dire need of some decent maintenance/rehab at a minimum. Like many here; been there before

You still got a sold starting point though. I'm right in the middle of cleaning up the 86 VFR750 I picked up last October (need to start a thread I guess) and it looked a LOT worse than yours when I got it.

That pretty much sums up the evaluation and the decision to proceed.

Enough of the crucial core requirements were met.

Thanks for the input
