While I had it all apart I also build a new Aluminium Center stand.  It weighs in at about 650g starting some weight loss fabrications to come.

That aluminium center stand is an awesome idea! You have mad fabricating skills!

So I've been to 3 different auto parts store in locally (Autozone, O'Reilly, Advanced Autoparts) and I can't find an extension harness for the O2 sensor. I've checked online and seen some, but I'm scared I'll get the one with the wrong adapter. Can someone who has done theirs point me in the right direction?

P.S I have the 8th Gen.

Thanks.

On the very first post in this thread there are some comments on the design Parameters, One Was that the collEctor diameteR would be 2 inch and mid pipes would need to be modified to suit.

Haha... I did read through from page one once... but now we are at 46 pages, and I'm sure most who did, forgot soon after😂. Its a easy fix though

I would send you a link to the exact O2 sensor extension cable I purchased on ebay to extend our 8 gen test bike’s cable, but that seller no longer offers the item. Other sellers do, though, but you’ll have to check the photos carefully and compare connectors with the ebay listing photos. I can tell you that the first cable I purchased was described as for Acura and looked correct at first glance, but had a slightly different connector. The cable that worked was described as being for a Honda Civic, and the photos in the listing showed that the connector was an exact match for the 8 gen harness connector.

I must have missed this, but do we need extension cables for the O2 sensors?

Sorta off-topic but...I have had the new headers for a year or so and love them. However wanted a PC III USB so I could load the custom map Daryl had done at Attack Performance (I have an antique PC II) but they're sold out everywhere. Saw a used PC III on eBay and bought it. Got it today but am concerned it isn't what was advertised. The model # is 111-410. If I'm not mistaken that's not the unit that fits the '98-'99. Can anyone confirm if this will work with the '98?

111-410 is the one I have for my 6th gen.  However, AFAIK 5th and 6th gens all had the same connectors going from their ECU to the TB and associated components (right side of airbox).  You can see from the thread below talking about that.  I think what it's getting at is that basically, while PC's are all different "models", what's different about them is that they have different wiring harnesses / connectors.  The "brain" inside them is all the same.  It's not possible to confirm that on PC's website since they're discontinued.  While I'm sure the map is great for your application, Rapid Bike will self-make a custom tune to your bike by adjusting the AFR on the fly.  It would however require O2 sensors in your header ports.  RB could expand on that.

Ah. Didn't know that. Thanks. Unfortunately they didn't send the harness that plugs into it to load the map.

You just need a USB to micro-USB cable cable to connect.  I had one left over from a camera or some other gadget.  If you don't have  or want to buy the 9V plug in adapter to power it up (I got one for about $10 on ebay), just plug the harness in to the bike and turn the key on.  Then connect the USB cable.  The bike's power will wake the PC up for it to accept the map.  But, you'll have to have your laptop right there to do so.  The adapter lets you load it while on a table or desk.  There's nothing to lose by downloading the map presently installed with it.  Not that you'd use it, but it might be interesting to see it.

I have a '99 with WiLD headers, Staintune, PC3 Model 111-410, Attack map and it works fine.

I bought this 9V battery adapter for PC3, I used it to load the map.

Do you feel much heat from the rear headers without the heat shield?  Sure looks better without it.

Removed Heat Shield

Thanks, compared to my old 2000.5 Aprilia Mille R, this set up does not bother me.  I have some titanium wrap that Gig suggested just in case.  I'm a safe lane splitter so I'm always moving and that helps. Once in a while in heavy city traffic when the engine is running at 220 I can feel some heat, though not enough to do anything about it.

Loading Maps to PC3 Model 111-410

I could not get a map to load without the 9v adaptor.  Like you, I was able to wake the PC3 with the bike turned on (not running), but would get an error message. I tried to with the bike running and found the same error. Problem solved with the battery adaptor.

Thanks. A friend told me it was the for a Honda Civic but the ones I kept finding didn't seem to match. However, your post spurred me to check again and after trying many combinations of search parameters, I eventually stumbled on one I think is the right one. I'll know for sure when it arrives tomorrow.

PS. The one that seems to match is for a "Honda Civic SI". Just searching for "Honda Civic Oxygen extension harness" will keep bringing up the wrong connectors.

On my 8th gen, (not so sure about the others, one would have to go back to the beginning of the thread to be sure) the O2 port is moved backward so one needs an extension harness/cable. Found mine here on amazon, if you do a search like I said above, you can find other retailers. I bought this because of 2 day shipping as my bike is already apart.

Just 8 gens need O2 sensor cable extensions as described by Mad Doc in the previous post.

If you wear actual riding boots you wont even notice the heat shield is gone. If you're cruising in shorts and flip flops you'll probably feel more heat

Actually, I left a fair bit of melted heel material from my near-new Dianese Goretex touring boots on the vertical exhaust tube when I took it out for a spin before fitting a heat shield. Right heel started feeling a bit warm in a long sweeping left turn, then got HOT. Cleaning fully baked-on boot heel off the midpipe was no fun.

I have sebspeeds rearset adapters and Vortex rearsets now that I think about it. That probably keeps my heels far enough away to not notice any heat. Looks like ducnut has the adapters as well

That's  one beautiful VFR-those pipes...wow.  I did manage to load a map someone on this site gave me-it's a map for a full Erion exhaust and today managed to get those damned plugs routed to where they hook into the wiring harness.  My hands are torn up but it's in there.  Seems to be running rich.  I will buy the Attack map and let 'er rip.  Thanks for all the info.
