Seems like no 8th Gen riders are actually interested...? To me it makes more sense to batch these with the 5/6 header run.Β Β I owe an update on centerstand stops. Β Β I'm 99% sure the oemΒ 8gΒ front pipes will clear, based on studying pictures and judging where the pipes are in relation to the motor. Member Contributer HighSideNZ Posted June 25, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted June 25, 2019 I currently have a set of Shark RC45 headers on my Gen 6 so if they clear the body work then the 8th Gen pipe should be a shoe in. Remember that the 8th Gen does not have side rads so the body work is more narrow than aΒ 6th Gen from the start. What I'm after is to get the headers merging correctly for the 180 deg crank as my current pipes merge both fronts together and both rears together. Not a biggie but it would be better for mid range if they merged correctly I feel. I'm with SEB. It would be pretty easy I expect to run these splayed front pipes in with the 6th Gen batch. I sincerely apologize to everyone here for being off the reservation. I am currently in the high Colorado mountains and clinging to a one-bar signal that literally blows away when the wind moves. I will be back on reliable internet Monday and will thoroughly flesh out the points below. Β Β I have not been idle...Wade and I have been talking regularly about: Β (1) plans to finish the production run of 8 gen headers and sell from stock without waiting for 15 deposited orders.Β Wade is considering this. Β (2) modifying his jigs to move cylinder #1 primary 1/4β to the right, as there is slight interference with the center stand at the bottom of its arc. This occurs on myΒ bike and the 8 gen w prototype headers, perhaps others? Β (3) gearing up further to do another run of 5/6 gen headers. Β On 5 and 6 gens cylinder 4 (front right)Β clearance with the inner half βchinβ cowl is a problem. The TBR headers get very very close at this point,Β and our production headers touch the chin cowl. Here are the TBR installed on a 5 gen: Β On my 5 genΒ heating the chin cowl with a heat gun and flexing it forward where the headers touch provided enough clearance to avoid melting plastic. The blue tape is how I marked the area to heat and flex: Β I just found out this internet connection canβt handle full res photos, so Iβll reduce the image sizes and insert then into this post as an edit later today. I am vey happy with the header nevertheless i have purchased several headers for my other motorcyclesΒ kerker, akra and hindle and never had clearance issues. I applaud the commitment to get the header into production and to rectify the issue in other runs. I just don't understand the snide comments. I think most people consider this small batch replica header to be a different animal than a production piece, hence the different expectations.Β The 'other guy' actually took way more guff in another thread, but you both seem to have weathered it just fine. Β I imitated sfdownhill's solution to the problem, I used a heat gun to soften up the plastic so it could be re-formed with an outward bend that givesΒ the #4 cylinder's header about the same amount of clearance as the #2 cylinder's header pipe. Β Β Β Β Β Installed on the bike you can see that I've managed to achieve the same amount of fairing-to-header pipe clearance on both the #4 and #2 headers.
