You need to test it. Just because it has discoloration doesn’t mean It’s bad

 

test each phase to ground and look for no continuity. Test each phase to one another, you need continuity here. Test voltage at idle and at higher RPM’s. Should see around 20V at idle and 60V at 7000 RPM. Here is mine, which tested well. And works well still.
