Zipper2680
Hi. Just installed a new Regina chain and Supersprox sprockets on my 2000 green VFR. Old kit was worn out and the rear sprocket had a oval shape. Was replaced but still can be seen some chainwobble as you can see in the video. Bike with 41000kms and bought second hand with no sign of a hard crash. Any ideas? Rear rubber cushions? Rear axle out of play? Bearings?
Member Contributer FJ12Ryder Posted June 10, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted June 10, 2018 In all honesty I don't see anything wrong. If you're talking about the chain looking like it's moving up and down, I consider that pretty normal. I've never had a chain that ran perfectly true. Much as I hate to say it but IMO "They all do that". I suppose you could move the rear sprocket around and see if it would get better, but if it were me I'd adjust the slack at the tightest point and go ride. Member Contributer Terry Posted June 10, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted June 10, 2018 That was my thought too FJ; just from the internal friction, the lower chain run will tighten when you rotate the wheel, then sag back down when you stop. Might look different after you do a few miles, fling off the assembly grease and warm the chain up.
Zipper2680
Strange fact is that i can hear the chain doing a non continuous noise while im off the throttle. The faster i go, faster the noise is. I will check the rear rubber cushions and the rear axle just for sure. Anyway its a 18 years old bike that looks like never had the rear axle serviced. Thank u. Member Contributer Vee-Ef-Ar Posted June 11, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted June 11, 2018 Quite normal for the chain to drop on the underside when the wheel rotates. My only concern it that it looks way too tight. Can the chain touch the bottom of the swingarm?
