mikesbike
Can someone post some detailed Pics of the OEM Hard Bag Mounts top and side installed on the Bike (6th Gen 2006). When I bought the bike it came with all the hardware in a box and I am trying to figure out where everything mounts. I have the OEM instructions Printed off but some close ups pics of the mounting hardware would go a long way Any Help would be appreciated Thanks
RhINO
What parts are you thinking about? If you follow the instructions you're supposed to change the bracket under the rear fender and install a piece of metal in the front of the thing to keep the plastic up I think. Other than that it's mainly a PITA to get all the holes lined up properly. I didn't get the distance pieces for the rails holes so I just disregarded those. I also had the bushings installed in the rear footpegs so I didn't have to do that either. /R
Member Contributer Lorne Posted May 2, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 2, 2018 As it happens today was a good day to reinstall the pannier brackets on my '09 VTec so I took a few pics during the process. Read through the install procedure till you are sure you understand the process. Leave all the fasteners loose until they are all in place. The brackets on my bike require a little English to position them correctly. This may result in barked knuckles so beware. You'll need a 10mm wrench/socket for the license plate bracket, a 5mm allen for the front fastener and a 6mm allen for the grab bars. Remove the passenger grab bars. If they are not installed there will be plastic panels covering the opening. Note that the kit came with a rubber spacer and longer fasteners. There is a stiffener bracket that mounts under the mudguard. My '09 came with one already installed but I replaced it with the one in the kit. Not sure if earlier models had it or not. If one is already installed leave it in place. I believe it is thinner but well up too the task afaik. Remove the license plate bracket and spacer. Longer bolts come in the kit. Hang one of the brackets starting with the mount at on the passenger footage bracket. Instructions call for this to be drilled out. I started with the left side. Then start the bolts through the grab bars. Take care to align the rear mudguard mount. Then fit the other side and loosely fit the rest of the fasteners. Remember that some effort may be required to get everything positioned properly. The result should look like this.

bmidd
My bike came with the luggage, but is missing the piece that goes under the mudguard and the piece that connects the bars together at the rear of the bike. And guess what you can't find anywhere...
Urbanengineer
That would be my luck, haha ^^^ I just realized I have OEM luggage. Thanks @Lorne for the photos Does anyone know where to get more Hard Case Keys? I only have one left it's making me anxious.
Member Contributer Lorne Posted July 23, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted July 23, 2018 bmidd: I don't believe it necessary to replace the large bracket underneath the mudguard - at least on my '09 VTec. Perhaps the earlier models used a lesser part, but the original on my VFR seems substantial enough to do the job. Plus, it is a pain in the ass to swap out. If you want I can measure the bracket that fits under the license lamp/bracket for you.

Member Contributer Lorne Posted August 1, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted August 1, 2018 Mike, sorry about the delay. Here is a scan of the bracket in question. It is just under 3" high and 6 ⅜ " wide. Hope this helps.
