JayRain
Hi all, I read somewhere that it is possible to fit the exhaust downpipes of an RC36II (>1994) model to an RC36I (1991) model. Is there anyone with that experience? And what's the use of the bulky part at the end of the downpipes towards the muffler (see pictures)? Thanks! Veefer800Canuck
Yes it’s been done. Not by me. IIRC, you need to either lose the centerstand or get creative in fabricating a mounting bracket for it. Google ahould have what you need. It was done 20 years ago, I remember several people saying so.
Member Contributer JZH Posted April 17, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted April 17, 2018 Are you sure that's a late collector? It looks like the early version (same as you've got already). The function of the large expansion chamber was probably to reduce sound. I haven't done it either, but the consensus view on the old List was that the entire late exhaust system would swap over, but this would have to include the later version end can (which might need a new upper mounting bracket). As noted above, the center stand also may not fit. Ciao,
Member Contributer Lorne Posted April 18, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted April 18, 2018 JayRain, John is correct that those are both pre-1994 versions, and that swapping over isn't a simple job. These images from the parts manual shows the difference between the two versions.
