VFRpwr
My preference: Originally had it mounted at 8 o'clock to the tach but later moved it to on top the un-swept portion of the tach.
Member Contributer FJ12Ryder Posted February 11, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted February 11, 2018 I had a 1980 Suzuki that came from the factory with a gear indicator. I never considered it really necessary except to see if I was in top gear on the highway. It just kept me from pulling up on the gear shift to check. If you race maybe it might be nice to know what gear you're in, but everyday riding I don't really see the point. A light that came on when you're in top gear would be handy, but just a slight convenience. I always figured the tach would tell me most of what I want to know. HzE
I just installed mine during the weekend. Only thing I did differently was that I didn't split the cable near the ECU. Instead I used the wires connecting to the instrument panel so I didn't need to run the wire to the other side of the bike.
