Member Contributer wrestler Posted May 22, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 22, 2018 Dudes, I know I said I was coming but half way there about 9:30 at night near Lula,Ga I stopped for gas and the bike wouldn’t start. Some guy helped me jump it. I had no phone,so fearing stoppage in the wilderness of N. Ga I decided to return home and figure out the problem in the morning. So, relatively new battery, perfect start in the morning, anybody got a diagnostic idea?
Member Contributer Terry Posted May 22, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 22, 2018 My first guess would be that you need a new battery, but you should check that the old one is getting charged while running by putting a voltmeter across the battery terminals. Unless you are seeing more than 13.5V with a few revs on board, the charging system could be failing. First place to check would be the stator-RR 3 pin connector, then I would also check the main 30A fuse, both are known to get some corrosion going which causes resistance and heat and can cause melting. Member Contributer wrestler Posted May 22, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 22, 2018 Thanks for the response. My battery is less than a year old. I think I will have to return to the stealership and have it looked at again. In. Couple of days I am going to install a voltmeter so I can monitor what it is doing on the road

Send me your address and the cost of shipping and it's yours. Thank you, Terry! That was very kind... I read your PM, I think you have me confused with GloryRacer in regards to who changed your tire at Hog Tie... Unless I was reeeeally drunk... lol

When I met the Glorioso's at the meetup I realized my mistake. Do you still need a windscreen? T
Member Contributer MisterBill Posted May 27, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 27, 2018 Pictures and videos from 2018 Spring Memorial ride. I did not get all the videos I wanted, but enjoy for your pleasure. And yes, Kimball, there is a new FRAM oil filter on the bike and I changed the oil. Sweeper
I've been busy and just realized that I neglected to post any pics from my trip. Four of us (Me, Rob, Rick, and Joe) met at the Microtel in Franklin on Sunday night before the event. We spent three days on the road doing the PreRide tour. Ten minutes into the ride we found this. I think Rick was trying to tell me something. First nights stay was Bristol. Rick couldn't wait to take a load off. Mr. "I'm kind of a big deal" eats breakfast at the BK. This place is a nice twenty minute ride from TheSnake. Worth the trip. Too good to pass up always make a run through Carvers Gap. We left it smokin! A quick stop for supplies and we were off to Little Switzerland. A quick chill for leftovers from the first night. The wait for food was too long for Rick. There was a terrific storm after dark. We heard a knock at the door. The front desk said "she is a local, put her back out". We had a whole day of riding in the rain. Took the Parkway to minimize the traffic. Just as the rain let up, my bike decided to quit. We did battery swaps between the three sixth gens for the next two hours. On a good note, it was fun seeing how far we could go in twenty minutes! Todd to the rescue. Spliced in some new wire and it was good as new. At the overlook with a big crowd. Not sure why Rob and Sean wanted to steal the picture from Misty. When you buy a BMW on your way to a ride, you have to study the manual. Someone called this the first meeting of the Bikes Made for Women Club. Not me. Bob found a nice place to suit up for rain. Yes, he is "kind of a big deal". Sean and Paul had to tell their story to decide the winner of the Green Jersey. Paul turns out to be quite a story teller. Someone rode hard. I'm not sayin who. Thanks to Bob, Ben, and Jason for a great event. Can't wait to do it again!
