Installed 520 conversion kit

Received my 520 conversion kit from sprocket Center yestrday, and installed it.

Went with a 17/45, I already had that combo on a 530.

Short ride today and I'm very happy.

'Scuze my ignorance but what advantage is gained by going to a 520 chain ?

I went to a 520 chain, lost over 1/2kg of rotational weight of the rear wheel.

That's nearly 20kg I've lost of the bike so far.

Lost 1.5kg of unsprung weight of the front wheel alone when I ditched the linked brakes.

Made this change for my '07 in 2013, never looked back. Have the 520 setup on my RSV1000 and my R6 track bikes, not had a problem yet ... enjoy.

I had a custom rear made up for my ducati rear wheel for my 5th gen.

when the 530 set die, I'm going down to 520.

was to 17 tooth 520 front a stock item?

Got mine in recently for my 8th gen, -1/+2. Never bothered changing to 520 before, but it was the only option for the 8th gen in the US. Also got some lighter nuts. Going to try to use my human scale to see if I can measure a difference in the entire assembly. The holes in the sprocket probably help, but I don't know if I'll be able to see it on that scale.

Off the shelf from Sprocket Center Keef. 

4 days from order arrived in Australia, 5 days for AusPost to deliver.

Sounds like a winning idea. I’d love to lose some rotational mass off the rear wheel. 

 

Does changing the sprockets like that change speedo reading by much? Probably not important on a track bike but I’d prefer to know how fast I’m going on the road.
