Step one. Remove tank

step two. remove air cleaner lid

step three. remove mouse from flapper valve

step four remove mouse nest.

Step five leave air filter out

step six roll into it!

Must be good for 20-30 hp.

Well ok maybe 2-3.

Love the sound.

Ordering a new air filter tonight

Pretty sure this is the worst mouse nest ever or at least a top three candidate.

Looks like a failed attempt at a mouse powered turbo threadmill .  They kept dropping nuggets in the throttle bodies and eventually were recalled and discontinued.

Wow, the little critter died in there! I've seen a lot of post about the nest they make but can't recall anyone pulling one out of the airbox!

Don't tell anyone but I'm sure this air box has been like this since I got the bike.

ive put almost 7,000 miles on it.

Oooooffff.  At any rate. Live and learn. It must've run like crap at some point and time untill the hole opened up in the filter  Maybe that's why it was so cheap.

Why so wasteful? A bit of compressed air and you can use that again...

Wow, your approach to buying and riding an 18 year old motorcycle is very different from mine.  I've purchased two 5th Generation VFR800s in the last two years (one I keep here in Denver, the other is now in Alabama where I spend a lot of time).  I can hardly bring myself to ride a new (old) motorcycle until I've given it a very thorough round of inspection and maintenance.
