and folded reversed/inwards, they'll fit under your seat. (unless something like an alarm is fitted in that space..)

Hiya. Hey I didn't want to start a new thread when this one should work just fine: I recently found the grab rails for my 94 as well and need some info as I'm getting all the bikes ready for a somewhat regular passenger: my 14 year old son.

Oh. And don't bother sending in your application for Dad of the Year this year. I got it wrapped up. Rolling into the pick up/drop off line at the middle school on a bike is instant lifetime Dad award. You have never seen so many young 6th/7th/8th grade boys ignore their parents stern requests to "get in the car we have things to do!" and stand slackjawed while snapping pics and sending texts to my son with pics and every question under the sun, such as "How much does it cost?" and "How fast will it go?" over and over again. So far we've been on the 6th gen r/w/b a good bit, and the ZX once (Still having carb issues there. Not sure of next steps.) but the 750 is up soon for carb work I hope and then the 500. Springtime is gonna be fun fun fun over at the middle school.

Teenage boys are still into bikes, believe it or not. Sure gets them off their phones and looking up and talking and interacting pretty damn fast, I know that.

Seriously, every kid in that school goes home with "When can I get a bike?" every time I ride to pick-up. I guarantee it. Makes me laugh when I give it the revs and the boys jump and yell and the moms in the cars and the teachers facilitating it all just glare at me.

Lo, do I laugh loudly in my helmet. Just giggling every damn time.

When there's a huge spike in new bike sales in...2-4 years, the OEMs can thank me for it.

VFR content: For passenger confidence, I found the grab rails and a small pkg of hardware that obviously I took off with them since it was all taped together. Took them off...25-28 years ago? I saw Dutchy's pic of the manual, and I've look on the Partzilla pics, but not sure what the small bumpers with the screws, and the triangle-shaped tabs are. Any ideas? Who has them still on the bike and can post a pic?

Wait....my bolts are different than the ones in the manual. I was just now thinking "I'm missing washers so I'll have to get some, according to the manual pic" but now I think they are not even the same bolts.

It appears you are missing the 8 mm x  33mm flange head bolts that hold the grab handles in place. I took some pics.

First pic is of the 8 x 33 mm bolt,. Second, where what you call the bumpers go. They are for bungee or cargo netting tie downs. And lastly how it should look when installed. Ignore the different bolt heads, I used longer bolts as I modified my bike to fit a six pack rack, the first pic is the oem bolt. If you cannot locate oem Honda bolts you should easily be able to source a 8mm  bolt from a hardware store. They can be a bit longer as the threads go all the way through the base and there is room under it, or cut to length. They are standard 1.25 pitch, so don't get 1.50 pitch or anything that says fine pitch.

Good luck.

Ok. The bolts I have. They are in the same holes once the grab bars got removed….just put back in the same holes to hold the plastic on.

By bumpers I meant the little black rubber pieces with the small flathead bolts in them.

That leaves the little black plastic triangle pieces?

Not sure what the bumpers and screws are for.  Flat blade screws in that size on a Honda are very rare.  They look a lot like Corbin seat bumpers that isolate the seat pan and the subframe.,

The triangle spacers are place holders when the solo seat cowl is not installed.

Yeah I thought the little flat blade screws were odd too. Never seen flat blade screws on a bike that I can remember.

Woah woah....the grab rails on a 4th gen will fit under the seat if you bolt them on upside down? I never knew! I thought it was only the third gen that folded away. Wow!

While this won't directly affect me as I have eliminated my passenger pegs, I have never read or seen this info regarding a 4th Gen.

Somebody being clever?  Doesn't feel like it was purposely engineered that way like the 3rd Gen.

Please somebody snap a pic.

The 3rd gens (1990-93) maybe, 4th gens (1994-97) no.

I will take a picture in the morning.

We are aware of the 3rd Gen sliding in on the shaft and rotating forward into the tray.

Your comment above when we were discussing a 4th Gen is what caused the confusion.

I'm not 100% sure what we are exactly talking about anymore.

That's clever! Better than putting them in the garage and potentially losing them. I don't think my user manual would survive if kept under the seat in our damp climate here!

I see!

I wonder if there is room to align the two holes and secure them together?  Might make a better package for bumps and vibration?

Thanks for the pic.

I was expecting them to still be on the mounting pegs, and just swiveling down flat, no?

That's like the 3rd Gen was designed to do.  I amazingly couldn't find a single pic on the webs with them folded into the tray.

You unbolt them, slide them together on the shaft and rotate them forward into the tray.
