Any Thoughts On Russel Saddles?

Recommended Posts

Hey kids,

Does anyone here have any experience with the Russel seats like the day-long? I am looking to get rid of my Corbin on my Tiger, because its hard as a rock and very uncomfortable for touring and long rides. My concern with the Russel is the 'wings' on the seat, while I can imagine its supportive, I ride pretty aggressively and hang off the saddle a lot. Is this an issue with the seat or am I just imagining things?

The way you hang off, I don't see how the wings could not be a problem. Just look at that pic from the Snake. Corbins do suck. I tell people that its like a really nicely shaped wooden seat....good for about ten minutes.

Seth Laam is your guy. He makes all day comfortable seats. My 5th went from me aching at 80 miles to a full week of 500 mile days with the last being a 656 mile day. No pain.

Fair price. Great craftsmanship, he'll work with you for sizing and riding preferences. The seat will be more dishes, but no huge wings a la RDL. The only downside is that he's a one man shop, so communication can take a while.

+ 1 on the above comments. I have had 6 bike seats worked over by Seth and they were all much, much better than stock. Biggest gain was on the fz8. 50 miles and I was ready to crawl off that thing and cry. Seth worked the seat and, presto, like magic I could ride that bike all day. Lifetime warranty btw.

I paid $378 total including return shipping. Costs depend on options, I opted for front comfort mods onl, the carbon fiber vinyl, and asked for a little more seat height and to be built up a bit in the front to keep from sliding into the tank. Work done was a solid 10/10 and I don't give that lightly.
