If I Had A Million Dollars , I'd Build A Vfr

So a couple of months ago Ontario's lottery, lotto 649, had its biggest jackpot ever of 64 million tax free dollars (Canadian dollars ) That got me thinking about what I'd do with that much money. After the house, cars, traveling, helping out some close friends and family there would be about 50 million left over, and I wondered what the hell would I do every day? Then it came to me. First I'd build a collection of every V4 bike that Honda has produced in the past 35 years. Then with input from the members here I would build the VFR that VFR owners would want to own.

Well I didn't win but it doesn't hurt to dream. I know this has probably been done before but now that the riding season is over I thought it would be fun to make a wish list to get us through the winter. List your must haves, get specific , post pictures. Since its my imaginary money I'll set some guidelines.

This VFR will still be a sport/touring bike, a little heavier on the sport, or maybe come in two configurations.

To be a true VFR it shall be a V4, and shall have gear driven cams. There will be NO vtec (sorry 6th gens ) and shall have a single sided swingarm.

Everything else is open for debate. Some of my personal wants would be :

1000cc displacement

150ish horsepower

450 lb range ( or less )

RC 30 inspired color scheme

Underbelly exhaust

Bullet proof electrical / charging system

I'll add to this when I see something I really like.

Supper charger option (200 hp)

Decent suspension components - equivalent to what's on a CBR1000RR / complete system designed and built by DMS

Lighter swingarm

ABS and traction control with track/sport/cruise settings

electronic cruise control

Front mount radiators

Belt drive

Ducati style hub

Carbon fiber body

Carbon fiber rims

RDMcD you hit the big ones right off, I can only add:

Factory Pro shift kit star wheel & lever/spring installed (the way God intended transmissions to shift)

ABS and traction control with track/sport/cruise settings

electronic cruise control

air box/tank assembly audibly 'tuned to project that sweet V4 intake music up from the steering head area

Decent suspension components - equivalent to what's on a CBR1000RR - i.e adjustability

2A USB power ports (for phone & charging batteries)

Switched accessory power bus

integrated and programmable chain oiler

Nah belt drive, lighter, cleaner nicer & if on a 5th gen style pivot less frame, easy to change !

I love my VFR, but it's not perfect. In addition to the initial specs, the 'dream' VFR would need to have a lighter swingarm than the current / previous models, and a less ugly hub. If possible, a conventional radiator, rather than the pannier ones. Although, y'know, having said that, both the VF500 and VFR750 were hot to ride, so maybe (apart from being simpler), it's not a big deal. Other than that, I don't care.

you need less than 10 grand for that.. 15 for full ohlins..

kinda

a 750 with a supercharger and youre stomping everyone.

I'm don't mean just a parts bin bike, new from the ground up.

We've got 50 million to burn.

Says the man who rides a 4th Gen in 2015. Either it was never much of a fortune or you are one heavy drinker. Or a hell of a womanizer. :goofy:

Just kiddin'. Still a great bike IMO.

I've got a feeling that you'll develop a bit of sympathy for Honda's predicament in 'giving their customers what they want'. :goofy:

True, but I wouldn't be in it for profit and the only customers I'd be trying to please would be vfrd members.

Moving up to a 5th, 6th, or 8th gen gains weight, but not HP. Might as well spend the fortune on wine and women!

Since I've had Jamie put a decent suspension on both ends of my '01, added braided lines, put in LED headlights and a VFRness, and have a Givi rack and hardbags, my VFR has become the perfect machine for me. All for ~ $5,000.

I'm saying: Jackpot! :wheel:

just get a 65 degree V4 from an RSV4 ;)

I didn't spend a million dollars, but if I could do it over again I would buy a 2016 RSV4 RF Factory vs. all of the time and money on my Gen 5.5. As much as I love it, it's still not going to outperform the Aprilia.

If I had a million dollars I would:

Catch up to Mohawk and Highsidenz with the engine mods

Catch up to Keef with the Ducati rear wheel and subframe mods

And catch up to Veefercrab with the new fairings and clutch cover

I think that would make the ultimate VFR and maybe even the ultimate motorcycle.

Whew...guess I hit the Lottery...my dream v4 is already in the garage.

I agree, you have a real beauty there. A 2015 version of yours is what I'd build, not to say yours is in any way not up to date.

then at 450 pounds , youre 100 overweight.

magnesium for the swingarm ,triple trees and all unstressed fasteners .

titainum for stressed fasteners. and exhaust

carbon wheels, body work , subframe and engine case covers.

Can I get at least an optional 6.5 gal tank, it's not that I want to ride that much, but when I do, I don't like to stop...
