It actually works out to about $37.50 per night or $75.00 for your stay for the two nights. Now that is a deal.

Hell yeah, that's an incredible deal - that's what I'm talkin' about right there! More beer money!

Do they have a fire pit on site for us to have some wobbly's around at night?

@Randy ... which way are you heading back home? I'm thinking I might take a few extra days and visit family in Kelowna for a day.

Yeah. I totally cocked up the calculation. It's $37.50/night x 2 for each guest.

It really is a screaming deal. I don't think you can stay anywhere, except camping, for $37.50 per night.

Yep. They have a BBQ and we can use the patio and facility however we like. Not sure about a firepit but I can find out.

Would be great if there was a fire pit ... that's my favourite thing to do after riding all day and camping ... enjoy some wobbly pops around the fire and recount the days events.

Okay. Just redid the math on this one. Doh! It's a lot cheaper than I thought. I forget that if we get 25-30 riders and we split costs, it actually works out to about $37.50 per night or $75.00 for your stay for the two nights. Now that is a deal. Event information and registration will be online this weekend.

Good thing you aren't a math teacher! ;)

Wait! I resemble that remark. Haha.

I'm just about done with the registration information. Starting Tuesday, December 8, 2016, you'll be able to register online at: Eventbrite - Kootenay Hootenanny 2016.

  • Registration closes on May 15, 2016
  • T-shirt Orders close on February 29, 2016

That will give plenty of time to fill the rooms and make our deposit on May 15, 2016. T-shirts I'd like to get ready earlier just to make sure we have enough to put in an order in the first place.

A lot of interest so far. Once we start getting registrations it'll help allocate rooms and determine costs. If we have money left over I'll put it into food, beer (or both) or if there's enough left over, back to the members. $75.00 for each guest should easily cover everything for accommodations as long as we have 25+ attendees.

When we get closer to the date, I will try to arrange a group convoy of those from the Fraser Valley. Looks like we will be reasonably represented. Even the ride to Nelson from here is a nice ride. The Crowsnest Hwy (Hwy3) is a nice bike ride almost the whole way. Have to hustle my but back home right after though for my wedding anniversary. Someone would not be amused if I were out riding about then.

Thats a great idea.

Video of what Randy's last rout to the kootenay was, you can see him on his white bike demonstrating precise parking technique at 3 minute mark into video.

@superfunkomatic

Did I miss the t-shirt design somewhere in the previous posts? Please excuse my ignorance and point me to the right posts if you have ... I'm from Manitoba, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

@jfviffer

That looks about right from what I've seen / heard about Randy so far. ;)

I would post some pix of fine parking in north east Oregon if I could figure out how to all photos to this site.

I've booked off my holidays for the year and couldn't make space for this meet up as I've got several bike trips already on the agenda.

Mark me down as a no. I'll keep an eye on the thread and maybe I can just play hookey and come out for a day or something.

He does it on purpose and tells the kids to always check his computations to be sure. Whoever finds a mistake in his figures get extra marks. Great lesson for the kids.

And, btw, who needs to learn how to count these days with smart phones always handy...

The event booking site is all ready to go. As much as I am a socialist, I didn't think it was fair to have everyone pay the same rate for dorms or smaller group accommodations. So I've created a slight tier structure. That way the more private rooms pay a tiny bit more than those in dorm rooms and we all cover the costs of the facility.

The building actually holds 43 but I've set the limit at 40 that way the dorm rooms will have three less people.

The rates are as follows:

  • "Twin" Rooms ($80.00 for two nights) - sleep two on bunk beds are $80.00 for the weekend, select two from the dropdown menu for a room to yourself
  • "Double" Rooms ($77.00 for two nights) - sleep two on bunk beds and the bottom bunk is wider which would allow for a parents and a kid and are $77.00 for the weekend, or it would work for someone who wants only one roommate (pay for two spots then), not enough room for three grown men
  • "Semi-private" Rooms ($75.00 for two nights) - sleep four on two bunk beds per room and have an adjoining room with the same set up and are $75.00 for the weekend
  • "Dorm" Rooms ($60.00 for two nights) - sleep eight people on four bunk beds per room and are $60.00 for the weekend

** If you desperately want a room to yourself or you are sharing with your spouse choose the "twin" option and book two (2) from the drop down menu. Effectively, you would take two spots in one room - $150.00 for the weekend.

For any of the room bookings select your preferred size and the number of people. One person = one number from the drop down menu. If you are booking for two in any of the room types select two. Hopefully that's pretty self-explanatory.

It will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The early birds get the worms and the smaller rooms. :goofy:

It's on the main page post. Or, you can go here - Eventbrite - Kootenay Hootenanny 2016

You can make reservations on Tuesday. I thought I'd give everybody a few days to catch up on the thread and sort things out.

For all major updates check back to the original post.

so where do we go to book?

Is there a link missing or am I confused as always???...

I may be in for this one just checking for the kitchen pass . I will have to wait to figure out which bike I will bring and how . Trailer or ride out VFR needs to be put back together and run a bit before deciding.
