Gotcha. I'll keep updating the confirmed and paid list in the main post.

Thanks for all the work you have put in so far and the work you will continue to do. Looking forward to meeting people at the event.

Thinking about leaving Thursday it will be a nice pre ride ride :cheerleader:

That is definitely one of my favorite routes to Nelson. The brewpub in Northfork moved to Kettle Falls, they had very decent IPA.

Beware of Anal Hiway Patrol between Republic & Kettle Falls. We were pulled over for doing 55mph in a 50.

No one got a ticket, just wasted our time standing around in the hot sun,

Nice road with nice curves.

The ride north from Kettle Falls along the lake is beautiful, rember to watch the road.

There is a fair sized crew from the Wet Coast riding though. Google maps claims it is just shy of 7 hours from Chilliwack to Nelson. I think that is being conservative, especially with a larger group. All of those west coasters who are interested in riding out as a group let me know via private message. I will keep a list off line until a few days before departure then post up.

Send me your PM here at VFRD with the following:

34468Randy, Chilliwack, 1 person, 1 bike departing home 09:00, 2 hours per tank of fuel, Contact number 604-316-6447

We will muster here in Chilliwack at the Tim Horton's on Luckakuck Way in the same plaza as Real Canadian Superstore. Many will be familiar with the one on Vedder and Luckakuck but it that is too congested. This one is just about 200 meters east of that at 45793 Luckakuck Way, Chilliwack, BC V2R 5S3. It is a far better meeting point. Lots of room and easy access to the road when leaving. There is only one traffic light between there and the freeway access so we can regroup after that traffic light easily at a less busy access ramp if need be. Most if not all of us can make Princeton on a tank I would think. We can determine our next stop from there. We can pick up anyone on the way. With a stop for lunch we can arrive with lots of time to spare and shew the fat Friday afternoon and evening in Nelson. Kick stands up at 10:00 sharp.

This is a suggestion. It is our commute, not mine. I will just act as the slave. I am open for minor changes but not last minute ones unless that cannot be avoided. Lets keep this thread clear of our clutter and do this via PM. I will post up our plans ahead of time so that others will know.

We're approaching the half way number for room bookings. Still lots of rooms left. Thanks for those who've already booked thus far. I'm chatting with a few locals - caterers and food services people about doing a BBQ or some type of meal together for one of the nights. More when I know more....

I am in. I will be great to finally make it out to one of our events.

FYI, I booked both bunks in the single just in case the wife is going to come out.

Thanks for the payment. I'll take note of the booking for the two of you. This weekend I'll start posting the bunking arrangements and next week the logo.

I'm sort of interested, but have no idea yet if it will work with my calendar.

I'm sort of happy about this. Riding is a lot better and safer with the Number One Wingman. I hope it works out MM. (Assuming you'll still ride with me. )

Its been busy at work and I just found the thread, I will be in Castlegar around the same time, but, it will be on the XR650L or the VTX1800T. Sadly... a gent offered me an nice sum for my VFR that I could not turn down (50,000 km on it). One day I will be back on the VFR, but for now I have been re-bitten by the dual sport and cruiser bikes again. I informed the new owner of VFRD and all the fine folks.

Ride Safe !!

Wow! We have 21 confirmed and paid participants and it's only December.

Twin rooms (one or two to a room) are sold out already!

Still three (3) spaces in shared rooms (two to a room).

Still four (4) spaces with four to a room.

And the extra dorm rooms with eight to a room are still available - plenty left.

We are almost at the break even point for the event costs for the hostel. If that becomes the case, then I think I'll turn the dorm rooms (eight to a room) into accommodation for 2-3 to a room to encourage a few more people to come along. I'll keep you posted on that.

If you're in the area you should come by.

I'm debating which bike to ride and may not even have the VFR by July. You can come on whatever you can ride in on!

Cool to see so much interest in riding in the Kootenays. Though that was one of the reasons we moved here. :-)

I pointed this thread out to my VFR riding buddy who lives in Balfour (i.e. near the ferry) and he may join us if the dates work out for him. He's a member but not really active.

Rooms still available:

  • Twins - sold out
  • Double - 1 space left (share with Veefer800Canuck)
  • Semi-Private (4 people in one room) - 4 left
  • Dorms - 14-15 spaces left (I'll try and keep this to minimums as long as we can cover basic costs of the facility - we're close already)

If you've said you are coming please go to the main page of the post and sign up for dinner and the t-shirt (optional). There isn't a rush but the sooner I know the total numbers the quicker I can arrange for food, drinks, etc. If you're planning on coming and you're a local it would be great if you'd kick in for a shirt or the meal to help balance out the costs for all members - it's a good deal for beer, meal and t-shirt.

Have a great New Year's Eve everyone!

I am planning on coming. I'm waiting for my tax return to pay. I'll take any bed with a roof. Dorm is fine with me, so save one for me. Okay?
