fultobt Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I have an 03 VFR that I bought used a few months back, and it came with these frame sliders. Can anyone identify them? I haven't been able to find what kind they are. They stick out a bit too far back when wearing my dainese boots to be able to comfortably change gears. Quote

This is possible because of their composition: they are made of 2 different materials, aluminum for the base and Teflon for lids. This guarantees an optimal coupling between the components and the bike, while the outer part in a teflon offers excellent sliding and shock absorption both at high and low speeds. The interchangeability of the cover and the wide range of available colors are also suitable for the most demanding customers and researched. For installation, you use the engine mounting bolts to the bike ensuring maximum rigidity and ease of slide. The presence of other points of attack would obtain even more damage than those imparted by a simple slip. The kit includes normally includes 2 aluminum bases, the 2 screws modified to be used in place of the originals and 2 covers Teflon (color and type you want). In some special cases it is envisaged the provision of motor pins, brackets and / or arms for a correct assembly. There are also pucks with rings, which are very useful when you need to transport the bike, providing a valuable support for fixing it. Quote

Rich Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 The site has them available for '02 and '03, and a different set for '04 and '05. Apparently nothing for '06 and up. I didn't know there were any differences in Gen 6 frames Quote

Apparently nothing for '06 and up. I didn't know there were any differences in Gen 6 frames Oggy Knobs was similar and I recall asking the question about fitting for my 09 but I don't recall the specific reason behind the difference. You may just send ER an email and see if/what the differences are. In the mean time I'll see if I can dig up the email from Oggy Knobs and see if it explains why they are different for their kit, it may be a similar reason. Quote

Rich Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Fultobt, in your pictures the sliders don't seem to extend out beyond the fairing. Is that just the camera angle, or are these sliders meant just to protect the mechanicals and to hell with the plastic? Quote
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted September 7, 2015 Member Contributer Posted September 7, 2015 So I found the email from Oggy Knobs as to the difference for the '09 model. Mind you that the Oggy knobs are definitely a different type of slider and do not mount where the ER sliders mount, but might help explain the differences throughout the 6 Gen model years. That being said, after looking at the location where the ER sliders mount, I really don't think there would be any difference between the 6 Gen model range, but you never know! "The kit will fit a 2009 model VFR800, however there is one smallmodification required to fit the kit on US/Canadian models. An emissionsvalve on the right hand side needs to be modified so that it uses onemounting bolt instead of two. It is a very simple thing to do." Quote
