😇 duhhhh....

 

My VF recenty developped a very small but steady oil drip. So 1st a thorough cleanse was (over)due to see if I could spot the culprit.

The usual suspects (oil plug, clutch rod seal) proved innocent.  Thinking back, I remembered the last thing done was changing the collector box, so inspected "down below"...

 

Ah!

 

The clamps for the front headers had manky bolts, so I'd grabbed some from the "oldbitsandbobs" box...  it transpired these were longer AND I'd rotated the clamps too much "in"...

 

So (both left and right) I had been merily clamping, but pushing into the oil pan as well 🙈... 

The gasket then no longer was well pressured, causing the "sweat", culminating in drops.

I rotated the clamps, cleaned the area put a sheet of cardboard underneath last night. Rode to the office and back today with no more oil leak.... phew! Live & Learn....

A "creative" restauration.  The "registro storico"  would refuse to register it. Only 3 "mistakes" versus OEM are allowed, but with the work done, it is a nice 150.

But getting it plated in the US may pose some challenges...

Hi Leon, I’ve not been here for months and I tried to check the earlier posts but I couldn’t see anything from you regarding a new VFR750. Is this your new VFR750?
 

I’ve also have a new V4 by the way but I’ll wait for your response before I share the picture…

Yes, another VFR750F came my way....

 

Stood idle for some 5 years., so it needed some love and money....

I posted the progress on prevoius pages

That’s awesome Leon, I’m so happy for you. I loved the Redslut and I was sad to see it torn to pieces. I’ve a soft spot for 4th gen VFRs and this one looks great. I guess I’ll have to go back a few more pages than I did in this topic to see the story.

Contacted the ANWB and like 10 minutes later, the directorate of public works had my spot secured

Is that what they do? Wouldn't it be easier to sell you a gallon of fuel and get you on your way?

That is what I thought they'd do.

But due to the location (they knew my exact position) they weighed the options, based on available vehicles (and what they carry) in the area.

Priority 1 was securing the area and get me off the road.

 

 

Last year in France, they did come with some fuel.

After me calling in twice....

I've coasted into more than one gas station. Sounds like a new thread. Out of fuel. Broken chains. Brake pads not good for that one last ride...

Never a dull moment......

 

Took the MV out last night, after having fitted the new wheel bearings.

I didnot -dumb, I know- check pressure on the new tyres that were fitted a few weeks ago..

Aye, the rear lost all pressure. 

 

 

But, with a friend with a trailer 30 minutes out

I was back at my friend's place in no time and rode Gil home.

Today I'll take the car over, take the wheel out and put air in. Fill the bathtub with water and look for bubbles 🙂

Leaks from the bottom of the valve of the inner tube.

 

I didnot check pressures prior to riding.

Did check the front just now, a mere 1.6 bar.

 

I reckon the rear had the same or less, causing the tire to ever so slightly rotate on the rim. Tugging the valve until it gave way.
