Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted April 29, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted April 29, 2022 I was struck today, looking at the picture with the tank removed, at how simple that machine is, compared to the complexity of my fifth gens, which are becoming scarier for me to contemplate fixing. Very greatful for the factory service manual and even more grateful for the collective intelligence of this discussion group. I tip my helmet to all who all the contributors.

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 30, 2022 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2022 Time for another collector box....... no more delaying.. Last autumn I put on the "winter" exhausts and noticed the left exit from the box was falling to bits. Patched it up, but now a dime sized hole told me loud and clear to take action. As did the RHS (already patched up twice) muffler Will patch them again and store them for next winter Yeah, I got these from the USA @timmythecop Crawled up the attick for the spare collector box, gave it a high temp black coating Next will be the "fun part", removing the box. Last time was a nightmare...

Member Contributer bmart Posted May 2, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted May 2, 2022 I still don't know what an MBD is...but these are the pads I pulled from to put back in the '98 the other day! New ones are only 3mm, so 1mm is 1/3 life left! It is quite remarkable how long brake pads last. I've had NEW ones in the cabinet for years and won't likely ever need them.
