Well Doug, I did an "Arizona test" for you today..... :goofy:  34C+

This "evo" works just as well as their 1st version.

I ride in full leathers, pants have a little perforated area so I wear longjohns underneath. My jacket has vents on the lower arms and the front area along the zip can be removed, leaving a sturdy mesh fabric.

I never felt the heat getting to me. When stopping and placing my inside the vest it feels "cool". It needs airflow to function.

Macna since released a V3 "hybrid" .... A step back imho, you either soak it (versus V1 and V2 having the water inside) and put it on wet. Like a Hyperkewl Or add "cool packs" you activate by placing them in a fridge.

Removed a thick, grotty, fake carbon fibre sticker from the fuel cap....

Ah!!

Bought a new OEM set (ignition, fuel cap, tail lock) in the USA cheaply. Locks were getting worn anyway..

As a stopover fix, playdo'ed some 🙂

I've never seen a broken tank cap before!

Ciao,

JZH

Using bolts that are a tad too long while fitting a tankbag base plate does that..... 😞

That is a strange and rare bike to purchase now. I bought one of those new in 1984. It was cheap and came with free insurance. They imported loads into the UK and couldn't sell them. What are you getting it for? To mess with?

Ready for my "date @eight tonite"

There are 102 VF400F's registered in the Netherlands, 47 being ridden (insured), 55 in sheds (no insurancs marker).

As for technical "problems", ach.... my VF500 was supposed to be "a handgrenade" as well

Lol.  Saw this a little late...  I must have shared my VF400F story before?

1989, my first trip to Europe, where I planned to buy a bike in London and ride around Europe before selling it when I got back to London.  Shopped around for a couple of weeks and settled on a nice, clean VF400F at the ol' Mocheck Motorcycles in Clapham.  Came back the next day to pick up my "prepped" bike and head off to France and they sheepishly told me that the engine had gone "pop"!  I read later that those bikes were "a bit fragile"...

Good luck, Leon!

Ciao,

JZH
