Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 14, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 14, 2019 Yeah, after 14,000km commuting that Metzeler Lasertec rear is as square as a square sausage!!! (miss that Scottish cuisine... ) The front still has 2.9mm thread depth left...
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 14, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 14, 2019 With the rear cover beginning to "sweat" a bit, I dropped by my dealer. Long and behold, he actually HAD a gasket in stock for my 33 year old! They could no longer order it through Honda (NLA) so went to CMSNL for another one. When they are gone tgey are gone....
jeremyr62
Yes, gonna get harder to keep them going. Then again, the way we are accelerating to an electric only future we might not need to.

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 16, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 16, 2019 SP's have one gremlin....... If the sun is shining from behind while parked up, the screen's inside will act like a parabolic mirror and melt the cockpit... Mine came with that mark and I camouflaged it with a wee sticker. But, jolo and all that....
Member Contributer JZH Posted January 18, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted January 18, 2019 Your Vessels look hardly used. Admit it, you're just fishing for "Wow, those are some really nice screwdrivers you've got there, Leon" comments, aren't you? Did the same thing when I got my JIS screwdrivers about 6 years ago. I even had the one that was an impact screwdriver. I can still hear the crickets chirping after my proud post. 😉
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 18, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 18, 2019 I admit.... They are new! Finally accepting that JIS is not philips....
Member Contributer St. Stephen Posted January 18, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted January 18, 2019 So that's what caused the bumps above the tach! Thanks Dutchy, glad I check on your unending thread periodically.. ...and btw, my JIS screwdrivers are red, to match the bike of course! Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 19, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 19, 2019 just for kicks, next time the sun is out in force, park your bike tail to the sun and place a piece of black paper on the tacho... Member Contributer JZH Posted January 20, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted January 20, 2019 Don't do that; you're going to set the bike afire! Part of the JIS/Phillips confusion stems from the Japanese calling their JIS-spec cross-head screws "Phillips"!!! Honda also had a problem with the early RC46 windscreen dimpling/melting the dashboard, which they "fixed" by changing the dash to include ugly little raised triangles of extra plastic on the later Y2ks and '01s: Such aesthetic indifference caused me to buy a second-hand set of clocks just to salvage the plastic to swap onto mine. (I will park out of the sun!) Ciao, JZH
Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted January 22, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted January 22, 2019 I recall a warning about focused sun rays from the Givi touring screen. But I quickly forgot about the warning and parked in the sun without regard and without negitive results. I work on my machines primarily in my non-shaded driveway. Bikes ('00 and '01s) have sat out in the sun for hours frequently tail-to-the-sun. I'lll be more careful of my '98. Thanks for the warning. Member Contributer Dutchy Posted February 15, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 15, 2019 Lovely day, clear skies, 14 celcius One distinct feature in our Dutch landscape are pollard trees. They are "high maintenance" cos if left alone, they will eventually topple. Especially since the water is omnipresent Why then keep them then? cos they grow nice straight twigs that are flexible for making baskets for instance. Or lace them into fence-work. Like I said, sunny and 13C. So timing wise, this vendor is a bit out of season for his road salt.....

Saddle rubs the tank so a wee bit of touch up Redslut lives on!!! 🙂
