Member Contributer Dutchy Posted August 14, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 14, 2018 Ignition on, no starting, no response whatsoever.... A very gentle bump start solved the problem. I knew right away what the issue was though...... Old skool batteries near a hot engine do what? Hmm???? Pulled the battery at work, finding at best 1,5cm of water in each cell. Plenty shops nearby so a bottle of de-mineralised water was easily sourced. As always, I promise to check levels more often... jeremyr62
Your battery will lbe knackered. I got one of those new fangled LiPo batteries for mine. It's so light you can't really believe it can work, but it does. Really well in fact.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted August 14, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 14, 2018 The battery is a Yuasa and -foolish as it may prove to be- I have full confidence it will be fine. On a different note, 2 years ago today I was in Panevezys' hospital So today took the scenic route home from the office. Thus making sure I could snap the 60k clicks picture: Congrats to the cougar!! Fresh oil and filter and clearance check in 2.5k, 6k intervals, regular as clockwork, will have her run like a Seiko automatic. If she does die at some point, she will have lived the life that she was conceived for. Running
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted August 15, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 15, 2018 Did 16,000 on her in 3 years, being on garden leave sure helped... Commuting will increase mileage even faster... Rode the SP to work this morning, feel that the VF is the better tool (ergos) for the job :-) And no, a Pacific Coast PC800 is NOT an option!!! jeremyr62
Are you going to trim the throttle tube and the handlebars? I bought the Oxford Sports grips and ended up cutting off the ends of the bars and using a bar end to tidy it up.. There is a huge piece of steel in the bars which falls out after cutting. It is there to reduce vibration but when I went for a ride I couldn't notice any difference at all. You can put the steel back in or buy heavy bar ends if the bars do vibrate. Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 3, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 3, 2018 On the left, the grip sits flush. The throttle tube does stick out a few mm. I will do a Rolling Stones on it. Paint It Black
jeremyr62
You will get water up your tube (ooh err missus) which might not be good for long term rust free reliability. Anyway I am sure you know what you are doing. The grips are good by the way. The auto off feature is really worth having IMO and makes wiring them in direct to battery really easy
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 7, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 7, 2018 Happy to report my new textile riding gear holds up in a 1 hour downpour motorway ride.
