Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 1, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 1, 2017 Gelukkig nieuwjaar!!!! Decided NOT to rework the SP's front end myself, but will bring it to a shop. Few things lead me to this.... I have taken standard forks apart and rebuild them, but for an USD, one needs specialized tools I read in the workshop manual. and if The Dutchy confrims is a a biatch to do, I believe him! The compression valves that I bought from JD for redslut (but didnot get to fit in time for the Ace of spades tour) have a bleeding hole. Whilst good for the RC36 forks, the SP's already have a bleeding hole. So fitting these is off the cards. Gaining knowledge on RC51forums as well, so yeah, bring the Ohlins rear and -reportedly- OEM front end in. still deciding where... Does this mean Dutchy will stop farkling? The Hell I Will!!! Sourced used OEM levers as she came with fugly fake CF's The undertail is aftermarket, fitted by one of the PO's and they removed the seat lock. The release cable sticking out underneath, a simple pull suffices. Make Some NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIISSE!!!!! zonder1.mp4 zonder2.mp4 Oh yeah, will start looking for original indicators front and back and breadbox rearlight at some point methink....
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 1, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 1, 2017 Gave 'm a good clean, panels will be polished semi-professionally in February. Renewed the red stripe on the left as the PO had scrapped it through with his knee... Purdy again!
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 2, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 2, 2017 As the SP will hibernate outside (the VF get the shed since she has a centre stand), I tested the coolant for antifreeze quality all good The PO had her inside always so I better check eh? The more I see you SP2 mufflers the more sexy I think they look like! You recall the chain of concert halls we did ride during your stay in August ! V4 Rosso
There is a mile long concert hall a few minutes riding from his home. I agree with keny, these pipes will look better without decals.

I wouldn't bother getting new ones, as the same thing will eventually happen. Just remove the existing ones, and call it a day.

Last time I played that venue with redslut (which had an Akrapovic), the traffic cop did me a favour, clocking off at 39kmh over the limit (I was double that..) He commented on the nice sound and glancing at redslut he asked in fact if she wan a SP.... :-) The fine was 10 euro per KMH over..... +9 euro admin fee.. So I will be very cautious next time round.. Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 12, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 12, 2017 The PO had the aftemarket rear lights fitted, which means cutting of a section of the undertail. I'd preferred the tail to be oem stock breadbox lights but there you go... Anyway, that meant cutting away the part that held the lock for the rear seat lid lock, "solved" by simply letting the release cable hang out. No bueno. so sourced the lock mechanism and got the 19mm hole drill bit out. Tada!!!!! Next job is doing a proper job on them rear light wire connectors... another job will be lookig for a licence plate light for I'm pretty sure this will not cut it... Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 14, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 14, 2017 Same difference! We say VTR1000 you RVT1000... The PO never cleaned the K&N's and with my wife out for the day, the bath tub is mine!!! shook both of them 1st...... so yes, having a filter is good! The combined loot Online I see images with the filter housing also having (red) foam inserts. Reading forums there are Republicans (NO) and Democrats (YES)... Any users here (you guys I trust...) that have a view?
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 14, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 14, 2017 Having established (with JD) that the compression valves I bought of him for redslut will NOT be good for the RC51, I will post them up in the classifieds next. The valves have a bleeding hole; good for fork internal that donot have one already. The RC51-SP already has them (linked to the rebound adjustment that 3rd/4th gens don't have) With it, I will sell the bespoke shimstacks for the compression valves, as well as shimstacks for rebound. The OEM rebound valves are ultimately deemed good enough. AFAIK, RaceTech initially never sold rebound valves but since customers kept asking.... PS: note that JD normally doesnot sell "loose" shimmstacks, so please donot go pester him for it. He is ok with me selling this kit on.
