Hey Swimmer you like to live dangerous like me (Fuelly) I filled 18 + liters or 4.8 gallons several times. I have a feeling were going to push our bikes to a gas station or calling for help.

Bought my bike at 8,500 miles in May 2014, current mileage is 15,466 and performed the following:

  • front wheel @ 9,374
  • engine oil & filter @ 9,386
  • front brake pads @ 9,660
  • final drive oil @ 9,862
  • rear wheel (massive puncture) @ 10,299
  • front right brake disc (left disc lock on) @ 11,448
  • installed k&n air filter @ 14,700

Kudos to Dae with 160,000km's. Helps set my mind at peace when I posted a question in the forum of how many miles will the engine last.

I've booked my bike in for a full service in 2-3 weeks time. First time I will service a bike in the UK. They said it could cost up to £700, which seems quite a bit, but he did mention it could include brake pads and air filters. Anyone done a full service in the UK and have a better idea how much it would cost?

Have you measured engine compression?

Does lofting the front wheel through the 1st 3 gears count as a compression test

No I have not done a compression test, currently at 186,000 Kilometers. This past few months I have been busy and rode less than 1,000 Kilometers. I will replace the spark plugs this winter which will be the 2nd time.

I'm now at 119218 km and the only issue is a warped front disc, due to poor original material.

Now I have installed 2 discs made by Braking, Italian brand well known. It happened at 105000 km.

Changed the shaft as all the others V4-1200 and stop, nothing else.

Change also the battery, after 5 years. Installed the same Yuasa YTZ14S.

Still not made the valve adjustement.

Looking at used VFR 1200.

Is there a current version of the hi-mileage issues spreadsheet available?  where? Not seeing a link here.

Thanks to all who are contributing to this  great thread and the its creator.

In all honesty, there are no consistent issues with this bike.  Knowing these bikes very well I'd be hard pressed to come up with any trending issue.

I'm at 42k miles and had my first failure last week.  A $3 rubber grommet that helps hold a piece of fairing on split.

Only thing to check is make sure the U-JOINT recall was performed.

Just passed 50k miles this morning.

Pads

Fluids

Filters

2 fork seals

Fairing clips that wore out or I broke

Zero time and zero dollars spent on repairs of non-wear items.

Over 60k miles on my ride and no issues.  She does assertive 2up twisty duty very well.  Although a new bike would be 'fun', there still is not another bike out there that interests me enough to replace it.
