Auspanglish
Hola a todos: Thinking of purchasing a magnetic oil sump bolt. Have seen several on Ebay. One thing's clear is they are a M12X1.50 bolt. I have seen them available in several materials: steel, billet aluminium and the other seems to be some sort of bronze nickel coloured metal. Which material should I go with? (Price seems to be +/- US$2)

Tightwad
Most likely the magnetic bit is bonded to the bolt...so you can buy whichever one you desire most and it will work.

Veefer800Canuck
they don't bond the magnet to the aluminum, the aluminum plug is drilled, and the cylindrical magnet is pressed (quite deeply) into the drilled out aluminum plug, it's an interference fit. Dang, is there anything you don't know about motorcycles and mechanical stuff? I think you should download the contents of your brain to the VFRD server in case something happens to you... Seriously though thanks for the help you have given me...
Veefer800Canuck
Gawrsh. Ahyuk. I've changed a few oils in me day, and the magnetic plugs I've come across are pressed together like that.
