Laser Extreme Exhaust

I've always liked the Laser Extreme exhausts. I think the four pipes look and sound sweet. The one concern I have is where to get them. Laser's company website lists FosterRAD as the only USA dealer. I've read some really bad reviews about this company on a few motorcycle forums. Things like waiting 2-3 months to get their exhausts after purchase, it taking weeks to get a response from them if you are having problems, or not being helped, or not exchanging/refunding exhausts that didn't install right. Most of these complaints were from about two years ago. Is there some other source I can get them from that won't cost me a ton extra? Has FosterRAD fixed their customer service issues? Where did Laser Exhaust owners buy their pipes?

Hate to say it but this is the place I got mine. didn't want 2-3 months but it was a good 30 days. When I called they told me that they don't keep them in stock and it was shipped via a real ship and that's why it took so long.

Are there two different Laser exhausts for the 6th gen? The ones I saw at TMAC didn't seem too loud. Laser's website says only 1dB over stock but a deeper exhaust tone. Either way, the original question still stands. Is there any other reputable North American source?

Just did some more research. Apparently there are two inserts/baffles you can install in the cans. One is street legal and only 1 dB louder than stock. The other appears to be for off road/track use that dynos a few extra hp but they give no sound level rating on that one.

Check with Speigler USA, located in Dayton, Ohio. I purchased two Xtremes from them and I believe they still carry them.

Just got an email back from Spiegler. They stopped selling Laser Exhausts 2 years ago and don't know any other USA source.

laser being a dutch company, I checked their website. They are looking for additional usa distributors.... If I were you, send the us distributor an email, express your desire to buy a set and ask them to comment on negative press. Put laser hq in nl in copy. If they answer in a manner they value your custom, you decide..

parcels across the atlanticcan take some time......

Well I have decided to go for it. I sent them technical questions and they got back to me in less than day with the answers. They also say they have 3 systems in stock. They are taking next week off as a company for vacation and to avoid the potential hurricane and said they will be shipping it out on the 6th of September. Here's to hoping I have a pleasant experience.

Old post put does anyone no where I can get a set now? Looks like laser was bought by RAD and they won't be producing anymore until January 2015

Bailey I have the Xtremes on my 6th gen and while they are quite loud without the DB-killers in (and I kind-a like them like that but don't like to bother people) they are illegaly loud and I'd have to install the baffles every two years for the roadworthy check and they are a pain to get on and off the bike to get the baffles in so I just leave them in... they test within the legal limit this way.

Not all Laser lovers are obnoxious!!

I don't really understand the comment about the Lazers for the 6th gen being loud, I had a set fitted with Motard headers & every other set of aftermarket mufflers were louder than my Lasers & I didn't run the extra baffle. The Laser has a more refined sound & that is the comment always made by others comparing them to staintunes etc, my Leo's are louder. The other strange thing was the Lasers on my bike made the best power was only a few hp more but they dynoed the best. The only reason I still don't have them on bike was I sold them when I sold my bike separately, so when I bought the bike back had to find another system & the Lasers were twice the price of the Leo's.

The torocharger is still sitting in my garage  it may sound strange but lost interest in fitting it because riding it without still leaves me with a wide smile. I will fit one day maybe unless offered the right $$ to part with it. I just don't ride enough these days & when I do it's trips away so reliability fuel range is important & the way I tend to ride I only get 300kms from a tank.

300 km from a tank is more than respectable and I'll bet there's still a litre or two left in there when you decide to fill up not wishing to get stuck on the side of the road having run out of gas. Which means another 50-80 km easily.

At the track I've never squeezed more than 150-180 km out of a tank.

Would a Torocharger from a 6th gen work on a 5th gen????? :goofy:

I only get 300km max that's empty in most cases or 100-200mls left. Track your full throttle most of the time, peak power every gear I don't look at mileage there just fill to about 1/2 tank each session as don't like full fuel load at track :-)

deltaboxii short answer no.

I was wondering what happened to that project  , now I know. I was looking forward to seeing it on your trick VFR, bummer. Any chance you'll change your mind and install it?

Hi Arrow well short answer YES I'm going to install the supercharger kit after all. Did some regular maintenance just the other day & the bug bit me again only problem I have to do valve clearances & have injectors cleaned & flow tested before install. I'm going away April so going to start build after that which will be a slow process as there are a number of things I plan to do with the kit.

1. I hate the 5th gen radiator install especially the main outlet being squashed to fit so going to have a custom radiator made instead.

2. Looking at all the rubber hoses/clamps also don't thrill me so looking to have pressure fittings & hoses instead.

3. Standard oil cooler looking to up size again with pressure fittings & hoses.

4. Gauges for SC working out how to integrate into bike so looks factory.

5. New bike paint work.

I have another major bike trip oct so has to be finished & sorted by then :-)

Dan said no, there are a LOT of differences between the kits. Critical mounting brackets and stuff.

Your need to rework a whole bunch of stuff to get it to fit.

Definitely looking forward to following this project!

The one I briefly rode over here had major issues with overheating so beefing up the oil cooler is a must, but then I'm sure you know this already.
