Guest DreStyleNY
I have posted a few of these pics but i wanted to make a fresh thread and keep everything in a nice order. The bike has been done for a while now. I just have not had time to update VFRD. I dont have the solo cap of decals i am having made, so I cant say its a100% done but it is close enough. Enjoy When I got it: the pipes: the sub frame now for the aluminum welding: The Forks, 91 pipes, with 93 internals (stiffer/longer spring) and 10w fork oil Original forks WERE bent after all Stripped preload adjuster Tons of fun The gas tank. Scored right here on VFRD: Stripped it! Sanded it and sanded it some more Filled it Primed it Two Tone The Fairing Stay: I basically cut the old mount off the stock piece and cut the front off of an F4i Stay....then mached it up and welded the crap out of it. I temporarily used the bolt to hold the mach up The cans, a 4 hours WING IT!!!!! MEASURE & CUT multiplied by 1000000000 Making the plastic fit took a bit of work and came slowly. I set aside a few days to take my time. Lots of Brackets and hardware made from scratch. The only hard part it cleanly trimming the lowers around the clutch cover and kick stand. I used a dremmel and rotary bit to cut. They are Auctmart Hong Kong fairings. I had to cut the hell out of the front fender so it would fit arond the forks (not photoed) Relocated the battery box for clearance. added a heat shield from a dodge rams cat. converter to keep my ass cool. This part was tricky do to the fueling issue. The lines and placement of the pump are very important. The pump is now directly behind the batt box in a low position(not photoed.) I also moved the rectifier to the bottom of the battery box for cooler airflow and space. OKOKOK THE FINISHED VF4iAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR: The stock gauges WILL clear the bars if you are willing to trim the back in a few areas. It takes time though. I guesstimate about 120 hours in this project. and a lot of help. Credit to my buddy John for his help with the Exhaust and Carbs. We spent a lot of time together between the two. I will eventually buy the solo cap and put on the new decals, I just have other projects to tend to at the moment.

Member Contributer SAFE-T Posted December 3, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted December 3, 2010 I find these 3rd and 4th generation body conversions quite interesting, but no one seems to be able to get the gauges right. Is there a reason why you can't use the F4/F4i gauges since you are using the CBR fairing stay anyway ? The VFR gauges stuck in there look terrible. Any plans for covering up the skeletal area between the rear subframe bodywork and the main frame ~ tail section chops always seem to bypass this, which I think throws an ugly stick into an otherwise cool looking modification. Try not to focus on my criticisms ~ it's a good effort. But it could be a great one. At 120 hrs. you are just getting started.

SEBSPEED
Hey Dre, double check your fork install height. I think you've raised the front end of the bike! There should be fork tube showing above the clip ons, and most people increase that by 5-10mm for better turn in. And yeah, that kickstand does look dangerous, now that it's been mentioned... :3:
Member Contributer CornerCarver Posted December 3, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted December 3, 2010 Great work, a tremendous amount of effort is clearly visible for people who know what they are looking at and it fools the other 98% into asking what it is... Maybe the raised front end is making the kick stand looke even more wonky...

Member Contributer mello dude Posted December 3, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted December 3, 2010 Sweet job! I especially like the work on the tail with the mufflers and the running/brake lights. How 'bout a photo with the lights on and mbe brake lights applied. Very cool... :fing02:
Guest DreStyleNY
the kick stand is a bit on the steep side, i will adress that eventually. the gauges were left stock by choice. Everyone said (not on VFRD) they would never fit. I kept them because of the fuel gauge and analog speedo. I like them like that. I could have run the f4i gauges but they would be inaccurate in terms of readline. I wanted a fully function cluster. The open areas under the tail section will stay. Its like that by design heat dissapation and access to the relocated brake resivior. i think covers would look gay there as well as on the dash panel. the only thing i plan to add is a solo cap and decals to cover the "cbr" and "600". I would like bigger brakes to but that does not seem like a option at the moment. I wrecked my GSX-R1000 aon the racetrack last sunday in vegas so i am more focused on getting it ready before the season starts back up. i will do a walk around and sound vid tomorow . attached is a copy of the tail decals, they will be only large enough to encompass the f4i600 area. the "farm" logo is the insignia of ours in the track world ;) btw, thanks on the fork height thing, i will slam it down tomorow Edited December 4, 2010 by DreStyleNY
