Guest sarc
I just ordered the solo rack for a '06 VFR and am looking at trunks now, probably either Givi or coocase from www.twistedthrottle.com. Do most trunks come with a base plate included or whatever else I need to mount onto the Solo Rack, or do I need to order something additional, such as: - http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/4570/127/ or anything else. I've always been a bungee kind of guy in the past, especially b/c I can't afford to add too much length to the bike for parking considerations (it has to share the same space as my car) so there are no pre-existing rear setups. However, hopefully the solo rack will help with that problem. Also, as a random aside, does anyone know if there is a way to rekey an after-market box to use the same key as my existing saddle bags (without going with the honda OEM bags)? Maybe even something givi specific, since they make both their own and the OEM bags. I'd love to cut down on yet another key on my chain..people already mistake me for a janitor. Thanks, Sarc
Forum CEO HispanicSlammer Posted April 14, 2009 Forum CEO Share Posted April 14, 2009 I just had to drill holes for the baseplate and install, the givi micro2 box is inexpensive and comes with a baseplate. I think I paid $150 for it?
Lee 2002
I ordered a JCW trunk. Cheap (see thread). It comes with a baseplate. You will have to drill your own holes with the JCW baseplate. I think Ken said he set the hole pattern based on Givi's baseplate. JCW Thread How I mounted Ken's Solo Rack
