Yeah the YR-502P is what people use a lot, I think it's from an Acura Vigor, 1991 Acura Legend etc.

I guess the follow up question is does anyone know a similarly close auto color to Spencer Blue? I may use Honda Belize Blue although it's not as deep as I'd like.

I am painting my race plastics not trying to color match any panels.

I think I will use Blue Sensation Pearl B-548P

After more digging around I found in the old rear hugger thread someone stated that Ford KM 6479 is very close. I don't know about having a Ford color on my bike though :goofy:

Most collision shops have a digital camera that will transfer the colour through into a paint mix formula that will give a perfect match for any paint colour .

Anyone know the paint code for the 6th gen engine? More so the clutch cover. Mine is a little rashed up and I planning on sending it to Seb at some point for window install. But would like to try and clean it up a little until then.

I ended up using Black metallic VHT high heat engine paint. I would say it is a 99% match to the stocker. Needed some for the same reason as you. I really can't tell the difference.

Thanks I'll take a look and see what I find... a little off shade is ok. Will look better then the bare scraped aluminum look I'm rocking now ;)

I'm still looking to match the wheel color on my 07 r/w/b anniversary edition. It's black to me, but....not to people with normal color vision. I'm told it's bronze something or other. Anyone know the name? Then I could look it up in that long-ass list you guys posted.

Again, as far as I had checked last, Honda does not release their exact motorcycle paint formulations to aftermarket paint companies like DuPont, PPG, or others to match by referencing the paint code under the seat.

Automotive paint, yes, motorcycle paint, no.

Partly this is due to how motorcycles and autos are repaired.

Dent your 2014 Civic, and the new bumper and fender arrive unpainted at the Honda car dealership, and they paint and install the parts at their own bodyshop owned by the dealership.

Dent your 2014 CBR1000, and the fairings arrive prepainted from Japan and are simply swapped at the Honda motorcycle dealership.

Also, I had read that the paint formulations they use in Japan for the motorcycles have high levels of lead and VOC's that would not pass EPA regs here in North America. (at least they used to, that may have changed recently)

So basically, any paint that you may find here is probably the result of someone scanning a body panel with one of those high-tech scanners, and using the formulation that the scanner spits out.

That method may or may not result in a match, depending on numerous factors, not the least of which is the humidity and temperature during painting, air gun pressure, spray pattern, application technique of that particular painter, etc.

Short story long, matching existing MC paint is a 'Good Luck Chuck' endeavour.

I'll be testing this theory soon enough. I have to redo the tank of my 00 VFR, and I'll be heading into Walkers for G-161P, Pearl Conifer Green.

We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone,

I know this is an ancient topic, but since many years have passed now, does anybody have the PPG, DuPont or any code other than the Honda code for HRC gold wheels?

It is not the YR502P or Golden Glow Pearl, which is also a car color, as spotthedogg said, but it is a little more yellow than the HRC color.

The right Honda code is YR-159 M 0129 or 'Magtec Gold Metallic'.

It was used, besides on the HRC bikes, on the wheels of the blue ST 1100 (European model) from 1999 to 2002, I'm not sure if it was used in the US on this particular bike.

Oh yes, it was also used on the bottom half of the forks of the Honda X8R 50cc scooter, again around the year 2000, and that's about all I could find.

The paint store I contacted had never heard of this code (now I know why) and asked me if I could provide them with a sample, which I can't, because it is such a rare color.

Any push in the right direction will be greatly appreciated as I've been searching myself silly, trying to find any information.

Cheers,

Jorno
