Posting to add to the collective consciousness here & reduce research time for others.

I am 6'0", and after putting on the 954 rearset adapters by @SEBSPEED I have nigh always had knee issues on my viffer. With me, my budget for ergonomics is unlimited, as I will not tolerate pain due to riding... though I still like to respect the value of my dollar.

Enter: Drop-pegs research.

Discovered options:

  1. Buell XB Footpegs |  N0520.1AD & N0521.1AD | @Darth Bling | ~$150 for the set (waaay more expensive than it used to be in ye olde posts)
  2. @BusyLittleShop's very own Drop adapters! | +\- $100 | Keeps those knees in the breeze!
  3. Some eBay adapters | MotorcyclePartsUK | shipped to the USA ~$80https://www.ebay.com/itm/265641948000 | admittedly, I ordered these before doing much research at all, and dont need them... find them in the classifieds soon and we'll strike a deal
  4. Knight Designs Drop Pegs | Model 121010 | after shipping and taxes... a Whopping $200 | They sure are pretty though!

... I was... unsatisfied with these options overall (between the insane price hike of the Buell pegs, drop-adapters widening ones wingspan, and the absurd shipped price of the very pretty Knight Designs option) and wished there were a better way.... and actually ordered the random eBay adapters

...then one day last week I got superbly lucky on my hunt & found a set of Knight Designs pegs on eBay for the low-low price of $120. Yee HAW!
I figured I couldn't beat that, so that's what Is on the bike today. Feast your eyes! 954_adapters_footpegcompare.PNG.0c91f324c57becf445f275872039bf76.PNG

Very nice!
But there's something odd to my eyes... 🙄
I mean... I think these rear set adapter by Sebspeed (❤️) are supposed to rise up the footpegs, but then you lower them with these new components.
Why don't keep the OEM rear sets, then? 🙄

@DrErgal Very fair, but that rise was too much for my knees to take without pain...  so a little up, a little down, a little back, and I think I found Goldilocks

Also I cant deny the bling factor 😄

When I bought my first 99 it had peg lowering blocks on it. It made my ass hurt on long rides. At first I thought it was the Sargent seat, but after removing the blocks it was clear that was the issue not the seat. Funny how much difference 1" can make. I am 6'.

Never had an issue with the knees, but I've known people who have so I get it.

I've not owned one single bike that I needed lowered pegs for. Generally, they get raised!

Never felt the need for lowered as well. But the '07 I bought last year already had them on it. Was about a 2.5 hour ride from the seller back home and even after the first half hour or so, I was like "this isn't bad at all".

Few runs up 268, 181,221 and other local roads and have only touched the pegs down a couple times.

So, actually, my adapters are designed to be used with race style CBR929/954 rearsets and will place the footpegs in the stock VFR location at the lowest/most forward setting. They can obviously then be moved up and back from there.

However, if you do get the race style rearsets and flip the intermediate piece(the one with all the extra holes) from Left to Right, you end up with all of the adjustment options being DOWN and back!

I'm planning to do the same thing, but aiming to fit CBR/XX rear sets.
Once back from business trip I'm going to take over my CAD and start playing 😎

Oooh.... I dont think I have that bit...

I had mine second-hand, and did not arrive with such a piece.

Just as a first experiment, I've made a set of risers to offset the position keeping the standard supports.

They're damn UGLY 😅 but it's just to get the feeling (I'm not in search of an exasperate race-style offset). After deliberating the final position, I'll design a monolithic solution as well as I did for my track XX

Just because it's ugly doesn't mean it isn't useful! Just ask my ex-wife 🤣

Keep it up! I envy such machining skills!
