Member Contributer bmart Posted May 24, 2024 Member Contributer Posted May 24, 2024 I got a few pics off of VFRworld but am hoping for some additional suggestions for locations on my 5th gens. Being able to plug them in instead of change batteries would be a bonus. I have a 3M GoPro base on the front fairing just under the windscreen. While it works well, it is a PITA to use, as I can't see the red light when it is recording or not and the buttons are hard to access without standing up and reaching over. I want some options that aren't behind/through the windscreen. This thread gave me some ideas. Wondering is something could go on the mirror mount: https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Motorcycle-Rearview-Mirror-Cameras/dp/B081ST38PL Or maybe the brake/clutch master like in the pic n a prior post in this thread. What are you guys using on your 5th gens? Quote
Member Contributer Philois1984 Posted May 24, 2024 Member Contributer Posted May 24, 2024 I placed a mount on the top of the T-Rex sliders on my eighth gen, works very well. Shows the steering and suspension movement on the front wheel. 1 Quote
Sweeper Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I used the left mirror stalk on my 6th gen for years. It works and allows you to see what the stupid camera is doing. I've switched to chin mount on the helmets because I like the cockpit view it gives. My wife commented that when I'm standing, it looks like a drone shot. On the helmet, I can just see the flashing red light so that I know its on. I also plan to try using a cable to usb port so that I can skip the battery issues. I missed a bunch of great riding last week because the batteries would die unexpectedly. Not sure that the cheap batteries aren't causing the camera to cycle off randomly. Quote
Member Contributer interceptor69 Posted May 25, 2024 Member Contributer Posted May 25, 2024 I have mine mounted under he screen and above the headlamp. If one uses the Quick app one can (if one has a phone mount) use the app to turn the GoPro on or off and to start or stop recording. That's what I do. Of course I upgraded to the latest version (previously had the small one MotoGP uses) which has a rear screen so when it turns on I can see the screen illuminate. Quote
Member Contributer bmart Posted May 30, 2024 Author Member Contributer Posted May 30, 2024 Have any of you used the Velcro wrist wrap mount on the bike (not your wrist)? It seems like an easy way to attach it to a rear peg mount, rear luggage handle, or a few other places. It provides the opportunity to mounting various place on multiple bikes without buying a ton of stuff. Quote
