Not good

Tread depth is about ⅖ of the amount the screwdriver goes into the hole...

As I'm still waiting for the oil pump chain as sprockets for the other RC24 (they are estimated to be shipped late October by CMSNL) and ride season is close to a end, I will just change the rear wheels between the RC24's I think, a CBR F2 wheel is coming to the rear of this RC24 this winter anyway.

I hate it when that happens.  Too many times for me to count.  Plug it!

Plug it properly and run that sucker!

Well I could plug it, but as I have a complete wheel to change in, it's easier, that Pirelli Sport Demon is quite old to....

Today had a nice ride whit the red RC24, a bit chilly, +11C, but sunny and roads mostly clear of dirt farmers had bring on the roads from fealds, thanks to 2½ days of heavy rain days before.

Well, the RC24 has been resting now.

I can see I have some things to do to it during winter, aside the 17" rear wheel conversation as cbr900 front fairing.

I see that my repair of the tail section has not hold on other side

large.IMG_20241016_212215.jpg.92ad447deb88d6731ed0e34a7fca56d2.jpg

I don't know if the rack is reason to that? Have to look into it.

Bit odd to break there. Normally it breaks on the bottom. I'd say maybe is rack related.

I ended up bonding my tail light to the plastic so it became one item. I'm going to have a bit of a reinforcement session when I get a chance, fix the mounts (front ones are both cracked, rear where the grab rail fixed as well)) and bond some metal around so it won't break again (short of destroying the entire thing).

Both sides had a crack at that place, did repair both sides whit plastic welding using a thin aluminum net melting it into plastic but this side didn't hold.

I agree that probably rack related, also the fastners of fairings has not the correct spacers as rubbers, some former owner has lost them.... Plans to make new spacers as a friend has a shop that makes small metal bits, so automaticaised as menual lathe's available...

A bit work on the RWB 86 for a chance

Did take clutch cover off to check the oil pump chain that former owner claimed to be very loose.

Well first, the cap's head is round so needs harder treatment to get off as needs to be replaced

large.IMG_20241117_075638.jpg.09e8b46fa2bab27769d7b563f0944536.jpg

Then the oil dip stick is missing the O ring

large.IMG_20241117_075649.jpg.ce25fe80e2fc7c4b848232d016145099.jpg

And seems I need to make a special tool to get the clutch inner off

large.IMG_20241117_104013.jpg.7d13709b744caace4b41e617856725a8.jpg

Actually the oil pump chain doesn't seem that loose to me, they usually are a bit loose, but I will take the clutch off to check anyway. And for this clutch cover I have got a new gasket, good as in bits

The oil pump chains are loose to begin with.  To the point everyone thinks there's a problem.  There isn't.

Clutch basket appears to be in good shape judging by the reflections across (what appear to be) minimal grooves in the outer basket fingers.

Yes, they are not too bad

large.IMG_20241123_073717.jpg.e8f114cf82d6bec5359e8ffd451f9eb0.jpg

But the clutch springs has made deep groves!

large.IMG_20241123_073724.jpg.0357a0f4c22ce76747049bb5d6c46c61.jpg

Now I'm wondering if it's from them the snapping noice like something slipping is coming from as you release the clutch 🤔

To state the obvious, normal wear in there is normal, but you can break off the posts. I found my similar issue from an oil analysis in one of the track bikes.

Normal wear:

Less normal! lol

Well as Dutchy's hope for a new bike did happen today (more of how in my other topic) I got confirmation on how to possibly get a combination of RC24/2 triple (lower) to work whit a cbr600F2 front wheel to work whit the odometer drive and 296mm discs, it's by using Honda CB SevenFifty F2 RC42 fork lowers.

Well yes, could measure as now got a RC42 in my garage.

Everyone that has a RC24 should know what I have made, the black is orginal

large.IMG_20250102_135008.jpg.619479929aa412debccc0b9ce4f00ed4.jpg

So as I did some messurment on my, new to me, RC42 CB750F2, the sprocket to break disc spacing is unusual same

1986 RC24

large.IMG_20250102_081907.jpg.529ed007b022a58b1ea5804b464ac0a8.jpg

1995 CB750F2 RC42

large.IMG_20250102_082002.jpg.234658faf3980fcdc48b72f4a0109ea1.jpg

Have not messured distance from center of wheel to them yet through, and if it would be the same you would still need to convert the CB wheel to accept a 20mm axle as it has a 17mm one, but not impossible
