Can't just figure what It can be..... The float chamber drain bolt is tight, looks like the O-ring at float chamber is leaking even new and was at right spot as I had the float chambers off to secure the floats are moving smooth as the needle holding.... Well nothing else to do than the carbs out again..... But not today...... You need to set up an IV bottle arrangement and bench test the carbs to spot where your leak is coming from Keny. Quote
keny Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 Well had the carbs apart, cleaned the float chamber seal areas really good, even didn't spot any dirt, check the O -ring that was good, and assemble again, and now it runs whiteout leaks! Starter clutch slips at times through...... Quote
keny Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 Well as it runs I make progress to get it out on the road for test ride. Spotted some difference between the 86/87 RC24 as 88/89 RC24, the seat base at the lock tab as the hooks in the rear before lock tab So can confirm a 88/89 RC24 seat will not fit a 86 whit out modifications So hooks from the 86 base and ginger out to remove plastic so the look tab lock Then some polish that did a wonder! Front fairing still need some adjustments and mounting, yes orginal look first, then modification after testing it runs good Quote
keny Posted August 28, 2024 Author Posted August 28, 2024 Getting closer, but still things to do, most time consuming is that the small painting on left lower fairing didn't sucsed, paint reacts on something so needs redone. But right side is mounted as too fairing Some stickers even they will not be final and the fairings are a bit rough Did the fairing mount under tank from a bit M6 treaded shaft, a long nut at 2 normal Stickers, I'm a bit disappointed in the VFR stickers I bought from eBay, was fairly cheap through, but they have the wrong font, the letters leaning to much towards right, here compared to the OEM sticker on top of the RWB seat cowl Quit a difference I think, but these will do for these not so nice fairings.... keny Posted August 29, 2024 Author Posted August 29, 2024 The 88-89 front turn signals made to fit the 86 I really like the look of these And it's complete So next to buy a insurance and then out for a spin later today It's not neat a perfect bike, so a ugly duck, but far nice that the state I bought it in almost a year back. Actually looking close to the bike in the 1988 brochure that made me like the RC24 so much, red, even that is a RC24/2 and this the first RC24 1 Quote

keny Posted August 30, 2024 Author Posted August 30, 2024 One more thing This brochure back in 1989 as I visited yearly local motorcycle fair got me hooked on the RC24 Actually what I now have is not much different... Even some is as a 86, but I actually prefer the 16/18 wheels, 3 part fairing compared to the 88/89 4 part one, but I like the flush front indicators better but them I have. I also like the 88/89 subframe whit removable aluminum passenger fot peg hangers better. I like the 86/87 VFR sticker font better thro. I would not mind the bigger front brake rotors...the 88/89 engine pulls even more as a train in mid rpm...but still darn close to that what got me hooked to a RC24..... 1 Quote
