DTfan2 Posted March 23, 2023 Share Posted March 23, 2023 Hey guys, I've got a new factory water pump to install on my '01 VFR. The book shows the cover bolts and the mounting bolts being removed. Since the new factory pump I have has the cover already in place, can I just remove the mounting bolts of the old one and keep the cover attached on the new one when installing? thanks in advance!! 🍺 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But it is nice to absolutely verify everything is cool inside your new pump, no FOD or pinched o-ring. Plus, I like to red rubber grease (or o-ring lube) the cover o-ring while its off. It also allows you to more easily "clock" the pump shaft slot to mate up nicely. Took me a few tries doing my 92 with the cover on recently.
