Pannier brackets

Recommended Posts

Hi There everyone,

Hope everyone is well? Help required, Bought an A5 model last year, came with side panniers but no brackets, for the life of me I cannot find brackets for sale. Does anyone know if the Givi PL257 brackets fit the standard panniers, they're the only ones that seem to come close by dimensions, obviously I don't want to splash out and buy them without being sure. Thanks all

The PL257 brackets are for the '98-'01 models and panniers that have the mounting points all in the same plane - bottom two pannier mounts not offset.

The Gen7 bags have the Givi offset mounting points? So you'd need something like this, the PLX166 used for the Givi V35 bags?

Thanks guys,

I did email Givi, their reply was that they make the brackets for Honda under licence and are unable to sell, they did suggest contacting Honda to buy direct. Thanks vfrcapn, I'll follow that up.

More to follow

I don't know if the panniers are interchangeable with GiVi ones, but I would expect not.  The panniers on my ST1300 were also made by GiVi, and no attempt whatsoever was made to make them compatible with GiVi's existing aftermarket luggage systems--probably by design!

If you're keen to track down the brackets, I'm not entirely sure what an A5 VFR is, but if the parts are Honda, there will be part numbers for it.  Parts for accessories are a little tricky to find, but someone who is knowledgeable and has access to the Honda parts network will be able to find them.  My best guess is that your part numbers are here: https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-vfr800a-2005-5-englandabs_model5732/partslist/08L5206.html

Finding the parts in stock somewhere is another problem, but starting with the part numbers may help.  Good luck.

Ciao,

Thanks for replying, I'll have a look, its a bit of a rip off really, the Givi PLX 166 look favourites. I messaged Givi and Honda, Givi are licenced by Honda to make the OEM brackets and are unable to sell them direct.

I'll probably buy the PLX 166 brackets and "tweak" them as necessary, got to do what we have to do in these expensive times, I'll send pics when I do.

Thanks to everyone for replying.

Gareth
