Hello All, Happy New Year! New member here. Thought I'd say hello 🙂

Had a '90 VFR750F RC36 for the longest time and regret to this day, that I sold it.  Finally scratched the itch and replaced it 🙂

Work underway on revitalizing a new to me '14 VFR800 FD.  Low mileage but a big dinged up and weather beaten cosmetically, so fixing it up,  bolt by bolt.  Hope to be on the road in the spring.  Work done so far:

- complete strip and cleanup, ACF-50'd

- oil and filter

- brake flush, new pads

- sparks

- air filter

- bikepnr gps mount, Garmin wiring to battery

- lithium battery

- electrical connectors all cleaned and de-ox'd

- bought a pillion cover and inserts and pulled the passenger handles

- tried OEM, Delkovic and Coffman exhaust that came with it, jury's still out.

in progress:

- fairing sent out for repairs and respray ( just nicks and scratches, thankfully it wasn't down )

to do when it warms up a little:

- wheel bearing check

- head bearing check

- drive chain check and/or adjust ( I had to buy the wrench )

- wheel sticker removal

- coolant flush

- wheels powder coated

- Michelin Pilots

- power socket for vest

- adjust the idle if needed

- plates and insurance

and further plans after a few rides:

- sag adjustments and then possibly fork internals upgrade if needed. Had a really great experience with Progressive Spring upgrades on my old ST1100

- final drive sprocket ratios perhaps.. dunno, maybe I'm fiddling too much

I'm looking for an OEM quick shifter if anyone see's one.  Wondering if I can use the VFR800X quick shifter by just replacing the linkage rod?

Thanks to everyone for all the information on this forum, a really great resource!

I wish my work area was that inviting, I would be eating supper there while I just stared at the amazing design and component fit on that VFR, Christ the hoses even follow the shape of the motor perfectly, and the design of the swingarm, super cool, very few of that Generation around here I can tell you that

Good luck and welcome.

She's really torn apart I see.

Great bike as u already know. refined and quality above most bikes out there.

Stick to Michelin Road 5 or 6.

Ride safe.

Congrats on your VFR and welcome to the forum!  🙂

I wish I had the time, patience, and skills to take a rough bike and nurse it back to health.  I can do some basic maintenance and mods, but not much beyond that.  Kudos to folks like you who tackle this and even more extensive projects!
