Will a Gen4 gas tank and seat fit on a Gen3?

You're all correct.  The dark sticker is actually a Datatag, IIRC; the Honda tank labels are quite light.

 

But the "HONDA" letters are also a darker shade of silver on the R-158P RC36 tank, for some unknown reason.

 

I've had another R-157 tank on my R-158P bike for years--front mudguard, too.  It's real hard to tell the difference, 30 years of environmental exposure later...
