  1. Hi guys, It has come time to purchase a new lid and I am considering getting an Arai Vector 2 because of some good deals on eBay. I have used mainly Shoei's throughout my life since the RF-1000. I have used RF-1100 and RF-1200 is my current lid. I am an intermediate oval shape and the Shoei's have always fitted the best. Other helmets I have owned and fit similar are the Arai RX-7 Corsair and Corsair V, Scorpion Exo-700 and R410, which are supposed to be Intermediate oval, and they have also fit me OK with no bothersome pressure points. The Icon Airmada is OK, but it's a longer oval, and the Arai RX-Q was more rounded, not a true intermediate oval, and would give me a headache after 30 minutes. I prefer a longer oval than round. Most of the non-Shoei helmets I have used would be from being included with bike purchases. The Shoei's have been the only helmets I have personally purchased. So my question is if anyone has experience going from a Shoei RF series to the Arai Vector 2? Or just general opinions on the Vector 2? I know this is a lazy question. LOL. I am eventually going to try one out a local Cycle Gear.
  2. helmet speaker mounting...

Hi All! I scored an arai signet q on ebay new for pretty cheap - it should be here in a week! I need some thoughts on mounting speakers in it. I have a sena 10c in my current shoei x-11. to mount the speakers, i ended up recessing them in the into the "hard" foam to get them far enough away from my ears (maybe i have big ears..). I didn't mind cutting the interior because it's an ancient helmet. The signet q that i've tried on to test seems to have similar interior ear-to-shell spacing to the x-11 - i have a feeling I'm going to need to recess them similarly again, cutting the cloth and liner foam out of the way. anyway.. other than following the mounting instructions where you basically velcro in the speakers, has anyone else had to do anything "drastic" to make them fit, and if so, what was it?

  4. I assumed that the ECE rating trumps DOT...not the case! I thought I'd pass this link on which explains the testing difference. http://thehelmetman.com/snell-dot-ece-chart/
  5. Shark Speed R

Just got my new Shark Speed R in the "Duke" Black/White/Anthracite and I'm pretty happy with it. The cheek pads are tighter than my old Shark RSR2, but I don't feel anything moving around. The sunvisor clears my glasses and the noise level is about the same, so i still need to wear ear plugs. I also don't have any buffeting at highway speeds. This should keep me going for another 4 or 5 years. Here's the video review from Revzilla.
  6. Helmet Repacking - Hjc

After 4 yrs of using the helmet, found the packing inside loose - causing wind noise, helmet shaking. Thought i would repack it before i invested into another helmet. Repacked only the side - removable pads Fitting is not quite good - no shakes. Had to trim a little at the temples area. Test ride pending.
  7. Sena Smh10

Just received my pair yesterday. First impression is that it is quality merchandise. Came well packaged with two USB cords for charging, two auto type chargers, extra mic noise reducing foam, wind screen for mics, hex wrenches, velcro, double sided tape, additional cords for connecting non bluetooth music devices, mics, mounts and control units. The manual is very nice, but I pulled up the PDF version to search for things easier. I installed it without the instructions. Went fine. Took a few minutes while watching TV. My helmet had pockets for the speakers. I'm beginning to think I'm not the first to do this. :-) The control unit charged up in less than two hours. It's supposed to give 10 to 13 hours of use after that. It paired up with my tablet immediately. My tablet received voice commands easily, did speech recognition and had no problem receiving. The helmet supplied nice, loud and clear music from the tablet. Controls were easily figured out in a couple of minutes. I haven't ridden with it, yet. There's too much snow and ice on the roads for me right now. Maybe this weekend. I'll post more after that. So far, it appears I made a good choice. Got the pair new from ebay for about $230 shipped.
  8. After getting over how ugly a plain silver helmet can be, he puts Honda wings on it from http://www.xtremedec...CTIONSword=ww1 So it is tastefully decorated.... for 10 bucks plus shipping.
  9. which helmet

which helmet out of these four should I buy. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/closeouts/helmets/hjc/cl16_hellion_motorcycle_helmet.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/helmets_and_eyewear/closed_face/hjc/cs_r2_thunder_helmet.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/pricing/private/3863 http://www.motorcyclegear.com/pricing/private/4928
  10. Hey guys, I've been considering the idea of using a modular helmet for touring and came across what looks like a decent deal on the Bell Revolver. Most of the reviews are positive, but there are some that note excessive noise, excessive and turbulent air flow inside and some seal issues when used in rain. I realize that the riding style, type of bike, shape of head, etc all affect how a helmet will fit and perform so I can't put too much weight on most of the reviews. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with these helmets on the VFR's? This will at least give me an idea of how the helmet acts when used on the same bike and rule out one of the variables. Any input, positive or negative, is greatly appreciated.
