My trip to the Alps in Austria from Norway

Bjoern

Happy me, and my bike in Italy last summer. A friend og me and I was driving from Norway through Sweden, Germany, Austria into Italy. Some places In Germany, it is no speed limit on the Autobahn, so it fun to drive very fast but it is worky too. In Norway the highest speed limit is 100km/t. We was riding home through Germany, Chech republic and Germany, Denmark and Sweden to Norway and home to Oslo. 12 days and total 450km. That was hard but fun.

In June 2011, 3 friends of me and I we are going to take almoust the same trip again, but this year we shall riding 10 hole days in the Alps  .

We will take the Kiel boat from Norway- Oslo. Then the leg drive down to the Nurburgring and a pair or 8 rounds and it will be fun to see what can the VTEC make here :-).

So carry it down to Austria, the Brenner Pass

past Soelden, into Italy over Timmelsjoch and then down to St. Leonhard. So, a little north of Jauffenpass and then south again towards Penserjoch. So down to Sarentino and then the city Bolzano. Running the way up to Eggertal Boys Pass, Pordoipass, Passo Campo Longo, Passo Gardena and Passo Sella. Then down to the village of Canazei, down to the Marmolada, then up to the Passo Falzarego and then into the Cortina.

Afterwards we drive back west again to the city of Bolzano, but a slightly different route - the Val Gardena, just south of St. Ulrich. Then up to Merano, west to Trafoi over

Stelvio Pass. Pass of all passport?, and down to Bormio before crosses the Passo Gavia. After the Gavia, we take one of the roads down to Riva del Garda, and runs west side of Lake Garda, as recommended by many mc-ers ...

The plan is to drive west to Bergamo and then on to Lago di Como - Lake Como. The old road along Lake Como Lecco and north should have shown some of the most beautiful landscapes Northern Italy has to offer. Home will be through Austria and into Lorrach and train to Hamburg, to Kiel and boat to Oslo - Norway.

I look forward to this trip

Bjorn, Thank you for sharing your interests and experiences. you and your friends will have a wonderful time riding.

May I suggest a visit to the Moto Guzzi plant? Their original and still their main manufacturing facility is in Mandello, Italy. Near to the southern tip of Lake Como. The Moto Guzzi museum is wonderful. Nearly every model is represented since 1911. Many race winners and the Guzzi V8 racer. Of course the Guzzi Stelvio is named after the Stelvio pass. The Norge is named after the winter trip to Norway on a Guzzi in 1921(?). I have a VFR, but also 3 Moto Guzzi's. Guzzi owners are much like VFR owners. Terrific people where ever you find them. Good fortune to you and your fellow travellers. R~

Thanks for the suggestion Roebling3.

We have considered going to the museum to Moto Guzzi, and there are several that suggest that too, so we should probably go there.

I look forward to take the trip now... :laughing6-hehe:
