Member Contributer Skids Posted October 27, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 27, 2017 Has anyone tried the Thurn Motorsports LED indicator conversion kits? http://www.thurn-motorsport.de/html/blinker-leuchten-sc63.html http://www.thurn-motorsport.de/html/verkleidung-sc63.html - 10th & 11th in the list. Just wondered how well they work, how easy to install, does the smoked lens on the rear light have a noticeable effect on the strength of the light? Just any experiences really. Cheers. Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 27, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 27, 2017 I saw few with led conversion (also tail unit) working nice noting to say China knockoff of the oem mirrors have just a main problem : vibrations , lot of vibrations (was really a BIG problem was impossible see something...) Also in ebay you can buy the same for (way )cheaper prices (not search for VFR1200 ,search for cbr1000rr 2008/2016 ) https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Set-Black-side-mirrors-with-turn-signals-For-Honda-CBR-1000RR-2008-2012/322047088419?hash=item4afb809723:g:DZ8AAOSwoudW78Iz&vxp=mtr Gonna fit cbr1000rr 2017 mirrors next week , full led

They look incandescent and I don't see any mention in the description....but I could easily be wrong. If they are LED, are they a direct replacement for the incandescent bulbs on the VFR1200? Isn't there some sort of additional circuitry required to put an LED bulb in place of an incandescent one? The Thurn ones have this. Thanks for that. Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 27, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 27, 2017 good question , did not have the single piece in my hand , saw just few bikes with it image thurn blinkers have just a led "bulb"instead of an incandescent (but may i´m wrong ) also : https://www.ebay.de/itm/LED-Turn-Signal-Side-Rearview-Mirrors-for-2008-2011-Honda-CBR1000RR-CBR-1000-RR/192226201490?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

The Thurn ones also have the added circuitry to make LED work. Also, the 1200 mirrors are folding which I use when I park my bike in the garage so I can get past it. Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 28, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 28, 2017 vfr800 8 th ge, vfr 1200 7th gen and cbr1000rr 2008/2016 are using same mirrors 1200 got painted in silver cbr1000rr 2017 are only in black but full led (working at 5 and 9 volts via canbus system) All this mirrors are folding and are direct swap (well on sc77 units must recuve the volts)

Is that what you are saying? Or are previous models also full LED and a direct swap too? Does the VFR1200F have Canbus? Is that an issue??? Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 29, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 29, 2017 2017 mirrors are a direct swap , but must go from 12 volts to 5-9 volts cause they use this voltage older oem are not LED but from this models are direct swap

Is there some sort of modification required?
Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 29, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 29, 2017 As the 2017 RR it´s using a special signal indicator ecu ( welcome in 2017 :( ) Quite easy must reduce 12 volts to 9 with a regulator linear or shunt or switched
Member Contributer Skids Posted October 29, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted October 29, 2017 Ok. I have no idea how to do that so I guess I'll go for the Thurn solution as it's plug 'n' play. Thanks for the help though.

Did you put the Signal Indicator from the 2017 CBR on your VFR 1200? I'm not so good in electronics, so some advice is always welcome...

I looked at the '17 FireBlade mirrors, but wasn't sure the fitment/angle was the same. Do they physically fit right on and at the correct angle etc? Annoyingly Honda have done it again with added complication of different voltage that makes such swapping so hard. Years ago I tried to use the CrossTourer indicators (Honda's first LED) on another bike and blew 3 of them until I realised they use a dedicated circuit at lower voltage. This has to be deliberate. If anyone wants LED indicators on their VFR1200F, just fit LED bulb replacements. Choose the ones that give the best light output and for very little cost, no more incandescent bulbs to fail. Also, if they do actually fail, it's a cheap replacement again compared to Honda's totally sealed LED units. If those fail, you'd have to replace the entire assembly which will NOT be cheap. Anyone noticed the price of a VFR1200F wiring harness? £1500. Yup, one and a half thousand pounds, just for the main wiring loom. Am I the only one who thinks this is simply insane pricing. Member Contributer Ghostrider1127 Posted October 31, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted October 31, 2017 You will need 9 volts for the indcators , but that´s quite a good way

crakerjac
How many wires? Running something like this inline would be easy... https://www.amazon.com/Magnolian-Efficiency-Converter-Supply-Waterproof/dp/B00A71E52G
