Didn't they call it "Self amalgaming tape" or summat like that back in the last century?

I don't think so, "Self Amalgamating Tape" is what we used to use for temporary water hose repairs. "Harness Tape" is like Insulation tape without the sticky on it. used it a lot on Vintage looms when working on old WWII trucks.

If you use Insulation tape to lap-wrap wiring looms it eventually degrades and you get the glue leeching out, also Harness tape should be fire resistant.

stretchy dry stuff too , Its called harness tape.

Its like this stuff

This weekend got a bit more work done, the power module for the dashcam is in. I also pulled off the fender and put a feniex t3 in brakelight mode on. The brakelight mode is only 70% brightness, i might get a separate flashing unit and run it at 100%. The brakelight flashers are cheap.

The feniex runs off a short bit of harness that plugs inbetween the stock harness and light. I had the wiring diagram open but still got the brake and tailight wires crossed. Its all good now.

Theres a link to the video of the brakelight at the bottom.

Haha next time! I have extra connectors, let me know if you want me to make you one...

That is an aliexpress tidy. It is very firm, you can push the plate back and forth but I dont think it will move on its own but there is an allen bolt through the hinge.

The light and bracket line up almost perfectly. I put 2 bolts with the little reflectors on them to stay legal (california requires the red rear facing reflector).

If for some reason I can't mickey mouse it, I'll PM you...  haha   I think I only have a couple of more things left to do...   for now...   ha    I may add some red reflective tape at some point but no reflectors for now...

  • 3 weeks later...

I built a small board to hold the switches. The two on the right light up with a red ring. I have pigtails for the plugs but I dont think they will fit in the area behind the headlight so Ill probably solder all this stuff together. I plan on painting the board black to hide the wiring behind it.

I made some revisions to my planned wiring. The toggle on the top left will be aux light on and off, the toggle on the bottom left will be stebel horn on off. The switch on the top right will be aux light high/low and the switch on the bottom right will be aux light flashing/not flashing.

I plan on using the fairing screws on the back of the piece underneath the headlight to mount the aux lights, this tucks them back and keeps the bikes lines clean. Ill probably have to add one screw into the bottom of that trim piece to hold each of the lights.

I too have joined the wonderful world of Sports Cruisers, and am looking at all the new shiny bits I should buy.

I am looking at an Arrow clip on, and will probably wrap the headers with glass wrap... it gets very very hot in Sydney traffic in summer and it flogs the radiator and fan.... wrapping the headers at least lets it stand a chance.

Also looking at a hugger... I like huggers, they look right.

And a different screen.... twas a tad noisy on the 550 km ride home, tried all sorts of different things to make the noise stop!! It was mainly the air rushing over my shoulders under my Arai RX-7 Corsiar II Mick Doohan Isle of Man replica.

Its been a while but I'm finally all done. Well almost, I still need add the sliders and tank pads.

Here is the horn. It fit on the right side, I added a bracket to what looks like a coolant sensor right on the frame. The plastics were tight but fit back on. The horn instructions say to mount vertically, this is horizontal but well see how it goes.

The lights hang lower than I expected. I am worried about clearance. I'll use a couple of ratchet straps to test it out. Does anyone know max front wheel travel?

video of the flashing lights, we'll see if the relay lasts. Half way through the video I switch it from low to high. 20171123_124054.mp4

I mounted the control panel. All the buttons are working and voltage output is good. Usb is working. This has horn on or off, lights flash or no flash and lights low or high.

The right side has the harness coming from the rear and the relay for the horn.

The left has 2 relays for high or low.

I also have the camera and recorder mounted. I put the camera under the mirror and ran the cable into the fairings by the windshield. The recorder is in the tail.
