Am I the only one who didn't know...

...that the 8th gen idle goes up by 250 rpm automatically when you release the clutch in 1st gear?  Tanner mentioned this in another thread so I had to test it out for myself - see vid below   Is this something that most other bikes do as well?

Edit:  Based on the responses below I'm creating a list of bikes that do and don't have this "feature".  Soon I will be the world's foremost expert on this trivial subject

Bikes that automatically increase RPM when letting out clutch in 1st gear

2017 Suzuki's  (GSX-R1000, SV650, others?)

2015 Honda Goldwing

2014 Honda CTX1300

2014 Honda VFR800 Interceptor

Bikes that don't

2010 Honda VFR1200

This is a gatorgreg thread with obligatory video clip after all.

Splitting hairs is the least that will happen in here!

One note your idle looks a bit high, about what, 1400? Drop it 200 or so.

Sorry - I'm not "technically qualified" to turn a screw so I'm afraid it will have to be stuck at 1,400 for the foreseeable future

Speaking of hairs - I just noticed how hairy my arms are - I look like an ape

Hmmm, Yummy fat chicken strips!

LOL - yeah I'm guessing it won't be too long before:

a) the ATGATT folks get on my case,

b) the exhaust snobs chime in about the cheap Delkevic,

c) the expert riders critique my use of 4 fingers on the clutch lever, and

d) the old-timers argue the 8th gen is a "step backwards"

I would like to hear how the 8th gen. standard is a step backwards.

At least we don't see Godwin's Law invoked much here.

My CTX1300 2014 did this too, kinda helps to not stall it.

Interesting - anyone know if earlier gen VFR's did it too?

Guessing it's to help prevent stalling?

Oh and Greg, seeing as all the good ones have been taken, I think your watch is 3 minutes fast

I keep it set fast to make sure I'm always on time

How about f) that all your videos have a super clickbaity title.

I assume you're joking?  If not, how is "Honda VFR800 test of idle when letting out clutch in 1st gear" a super clickbaity title for my video?   It's rather anti-clickbaity IMO   Perhaps you're trying to read the title with your lazy eye, Mr.  lazyeye?

I shall have to check that out on my 800X.

It would be weird if the 800X doesn't have it too - I would think.

My '15 Goldwing ups the idle when the clutch lever is let out, but my '10 VFR1200 does not.

He probably meant the tread title.

I've read about other bikes from other makes having the same feature, but I can't remember what they were. I may have been reading about beginner bikes.

Mine seems to fail to do it sometimes. I've stalled it once or twice because of the muscle memory I've developed for it. Other times, I've noticed it never jumped, but I was easing out slowly enough that it didn't die.
