Replacing K&N air filter and whooooaaaa Jack!!

Oil / filter change...check.  Flush & replace coolant...check.  Go to replace K&N air filter.  Off with the tank, pull air manifold and.... AYFKM??

Happened before I bought this '04 three years ago but I've done several 3-4 day rides since & can't believe the motor could breathe through this nest of s***!

Note that this "nest" is comprised of all k&n material.  Filter did it's job though, nothing got through to the intake side at all.  Expected to find a corpse but after my best CSI, nothing.  So many questions.

This is why I check the air filter on used bikes when I bring them home; threads like this!

At least the filter did it's job. Yikes!

I had mice build a nest out of foam from various parts of my FJR some years ago. Right on top of the main wiring harness at the CPU. Chewed all around it but never touched the exposed wires at all.

Whew!

Mine once had about 4lb of dog food in there ...industrious mice had chewed a hole in the storage tote for the dog food...the air filter had an "interesting" odour to it...
