Headlight connector clip?

vulgar1

Recommended Posts

Just got back from a road trip where my left headlight burned out. Reach in to remove the bulb so I can order a new one and low and behold the connector will not release. Is there a tab I am missing on this thing or what? I pull on it and it feels like I am going to break the tabs off the back of the headlight. Wtf?

Yes, you have to press a tab in the connector for it to let go of the bulb, at least on the H4 on the 5th gen.

It will not come out if you don't.

I can't remember where on the plug it is, but once you've done it once it's easy.

Push the tab in and move up (or down) to "unhook" and it with open on its hinge

This is for a 6th gen (I should have put that in original post) and I am talking about the connector only. Not that metal holding the bulb in the housing.

I figured there must be a tab I can't see but I couldn't feel it when I was checking earlier. I will feel around more when I get home.

I give up. The service manual online is the one I have. I also have the owners manual. I can't see the tab or feel it. I guess I have to pull the whole damn fairing. Fml. All I need is 1 picture of the connector.

No you are not...

Otherwise you would not have stopped and asked for help. :-)

I had to change one out on my'98 and noticed I needed tiny hands-there ain't no room in there! Took forever.
