Hi folks, I didn't see an intro section, hope I didn't miss it...

I just got a new to me 2014 the other week, am really enjoying it so far! I had a 2006 but sold it about 9 years ago, my last 3 street bikes have all been big girls, C14, 1290SA, and Wing, it feels great to be back on something smaller again!

I'm sure I'll have questions, I've been lurking here the past couple days and seems like a good place to be so tonight I joined.

One question I do have is how the heck do upload an avatar, tried it twice and for some reason not working?

Below is the new toy.

Hi there and welcome! Nice ride, same as mine

Go to profile -> profile photo -> upload photo, worked for me. Maybe there is a size limitation.

Thanks!

I think I finally figured out the avatar, I thought "cover photo" was for the avatar, but I think that's just a wallpaper for my home screen...

Thx Grum!

I'm in the Portland Oregon USA area, often referred to as the PNW, Pacific Northwest, beautiful place to live but it can get wet here often...

VifferJ, welcome to the asylum! I'm curious how the Conny compares, and what is your height/weight? I'm a smaller person, 5'8" 160. I think I wouldn't mind picking up a c14, but concerned about the weight.

Thanks! I'm 5'8" about a buck fifty, the Connie is probably the best bike I've ever owned and I've had a couple dozen plus bikes. They are a great value these days with new leftover models around $10k and low mile used for obviously less than that. I had mine for about a half dozen years, I had so much fun with it and did about everything you can possibly think of to it, I even had 4 full sets of bodywork all custom painted and 4 sets of wheels also in a Skittles assortment of colors that were always fun to change around, I was the first to do one in the ZX14R Golden Blaze Green, Kawi saw it and loved it at our COG Rally in 2013, they then came out with a green one from the factory a couple years later, I don't think that was a coincidence... I ended up trading it for a new KTM 1290 Super Adventure, mostly just because I was ready to move on to something else, I love riding bikes but I also enjoy the process of building them up and making them better than how they came from the manufacturer. The one weakness IMO on the Connie is they are kinda top heavy, that combined with a higher seat height can be a little un-nerving when 2up and fully loaded, balancing 1k lbs with my big toe when on off-camber ground at a light or stop sign were always situations I didn't care for. Long story short, we now have a Wing for 2up loaded trips, mama loves being on the back of the Wing, it's such a comfy ride and super low seat height and it carries all the bikes weight down low, the Wing "feels" like it weighs less than the Connie, even though the Connie weighs 300 lbs less than the Wing. Anyways... I love bikes, all shapes, sizes, colors, etc, sometimes its just nice to have something different to keep me entertained!

Here's some pics of the Connie in some of her different forms... And also a pic of the 1290SA and Wing, I love them all, but they are all different.

Welcome!  Beautiful bike(s).

Thx!

I think I finally have my ideal lineup in the stable now...

Viffer for solo, commuting, sport, and light touring.

Wing for 2up, long distance touring, even added a little Unigo trailer to the mix for hauling our camping gear.

KTM 500EXC for dirt, dual-sport, commuting, and just whenever I want to wheelie like a hooligan.

Even a good looking trailer.  Who makes that and how much do you notice it when riding?

And then he saw it said "Unigo trailer"... I'll work on my reading comprehension...  what can I say... I don't look at bike porn for the articles.

Thx! Yes it's a Unigo, I've never pulled a trailer before with a bike, just got the Unigo this year, it pulls great behind the Wing, barely even notice it back there, it gives me an extra 150'sh liters of space, I just keep all our camping gear in it full time, if we're camping I just connect the Unigo to the Wing and go!

It's great for trips where we camp and hotel, small enough to fit through any hotel room door or elevator, went to a rally in May, put the Unigo in the hotel room and headed out on the day rides, its awesome IMO.

That's hilarious and, at the same time, tempting. When I get old enough for a 'Wing, I'll remember that.

Indeed, getting old sux, or does it?

Glad to see you over here buddy!

For you other folks, this is my long time riding buddy Gumby, we've been riding bikes together for 30+ years, I got my Viffer on a Saturday, and 3 days later he bought his!

Here's a pic of us 2 knuckleheads and our matching 2014 Viffers...
