Member Contributer 2FAST4U Posted June 21, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted June 21, 2017 Here's the deal: A) Sometimes the fuel pump doesn't prime when I try starting my bike, or B) The fuel pump primes (allowing me to start the bike), but then the engine sometimes cuts off once it's running I isolated the problem and determined it's a loose wiring connection. In the top picture, it's the white connectors between the green plastic piece and the red wire (the bottom pic is simply a close-up). What is a simple fix for this? Would wrapping electrical tape nice and tight around the two pieces be OK?
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted June 22, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted June 22, 2017 after you cleaned the connector and put some tiny dab of grease, use a narrow tie-wrap? Looks like is might go across diagonally just fine. A bit more involved: using a tiny jewellers screwdiver "unhook" the wires (with the male/female metal connectors) from the housing and GENTLY compress the females so the males will slide in a more snug connection. Auspanglish
+1 Or replace with a more betterer water-proof connector. Did you test resistance across the connector?
Member Contributer 2FAST4U Posted June 22, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted June 22, 2017 Although it never occurred to me to use a zip tie, it did occur to me to use an X pattern with electrical tape. I did not test resistance as I don't have the right tool for that (I think it's OK, though). Thank you both for your replies.
