Data point: valves at 86k miles

I had a coolant leak at the water pipe that runs in the vee from one side of the engine to the other. In order to fix it, I had to remove the carbs, so I cleaned them and installed some viton Litetek o-rings - you know, while I was in there.

Also, while I was in there, I decided to check the valves, since I have never done so since I got the bike at 32k miles (it currently has 86k) - and to my knowledge, none of the previous owners ever checked them either.

Specs: Intake valves 0.006in +/- 0.001in; Exhaust valves 0.010in, +/- 0.001in

Intake valves: 0.006, 0.006, 0.005, 0.005, 0.005, 0.005, 0.005, 0.005

Exhaust valves: 0.009, 0.009, 0.009, 0.009, 0.009, 0.009, 0.009, 0.009

They are all in tolerance, although on the tight side of the range, except for cylinder #1 intake valves that are right on target.

I checked them 3 times, just to make sure I wasn't mistaken. So yeah, I installed new valve cover gaskets and buttoned it up. I don't reckon I will check them ever again. :)

Yeah mine (1st check at 90k km's) were peachy too; only one was a bit wide.
