Hope there was no Green Jeryey awarded this year. Keep the info coming.

Next Year!

He was completely OK.

I'm sorry I brought it up. Next year, no green awards, huh? Glad he's okay.

Careful...they might mail it to you.

That idea did cross my mind. But I was not at Tmac. If they didn't give to to me for the deer on the way to NC, they won't give an On The Way There award to anyone.

BTW: You are still my Wingman Supreme.

I was OK and even got to ride the next day.

This leads me to the picture that made my trip.

To set the sceen: It is around 8AM on Saturday - The morning after.

My bike, which went down on the left side had a flat front tire, which pretty much meant that I was not riding that day.

I came out in my shorts and tee shirt fully expecting to spend my day sitting outside and lamenting what could have been.

And this is what I saw:

018B1D7A-F35A-404E-AD24-C89D6FBC43C3_zps

Than you Austin!

You've made my day and I am still smiling now, as I am writing this post.

This folks is the reason why I've been a member of VFRD since... OMG!!! 2006! Dam.. Time flies.

What lessons I took away from all this? Many.

But the most important one, is this: When your bike refuses to lean on the side stand, you probably have flat tires :goofy:

As I have said, you are very welcome. Ironically, I was in the parking lot last year rebuilding my bike and you helped me to ride the rest of that trip. This is how it works, we help each other and we ride another day in order to have more great memories.

Starting from Cherokee, NC my first visit to the famed road on the evening before my assault on the mountains...

post-19432-0-66164800-1433204706.jpg

The views were obscured everywhere above 4200 feet elevation... the two other riders on Harleys that were dressed for the weather and headed out slightly before me turned back within 10 minutes...

That wasn't fog... just low clouds

post-19432-0-75182400-1433205158.jpg

The view from the top...

Gig surprised me from the side of the road outside Asheville and we rode on for a bit... still socked in with clouds he headed back after ~45 mins or so... I pressed on and the skies cleared around Mt. Mitchell so I pressed on to Boone and back

Please note Seb's sweet clutch window and zoomzoom's (aka "the King of Shiny Bits!") beautifully polished pressure plate

It was a great adventure... ~350 mile day with ~275 of it on the Blue Ridge Parkway... fog, rain, sunny skies... temps from 53F to 86F... 35 mph in a silent bubble of fog to 85 mph mountain sweepers on a dry sunny road. Had the BRP all to myself for most of the day...

Ended the day here...

I'm really sorry I didn't have my phone ready to take a pic. On Saturday afternoon I saw Rice put the ramp up to the back of his truck. The truck was parked facing up the hill so the ramp was ridiculous steep. I hear his bike fire and turn in time to see him launch his bike into the truck with the front tire in the air. He stuck the landing with the tire in the front corner of the bed. I nearly fell out. Next year, he has promised to teach a class.

Hey, which wheel spacers did you end up using? Did it matter?

I used my old ones from the 6th gen.

It looked like 4th gen ones were somewhat different, but I was eyeballing, so take it for what it's worth.

Three days of riding and only a couple of drops of rain. If you stayed home because of the weather - you lost.gallery_5257_7592_1516693.jpg

Aaron and Rob about to go at it.

I forgot to have Carver check the date code on my trailer tires. Lost it Sunday about 50 miles out.

Green Jersey was handed down from VFRAustin, to Rush2112, to Rice. Well done gentlemen.

And to my knowledge MrBill was not harmed.

I didn't hear the story but it appears that Trace got a knee down on his new Duc.gallery_5257_7592_1035442.jpg

What a hose head eh?

Thanks to BR, Warwoman, EM, Carver, Timmy, and all of you who chipped in. It was the best vacation that I could have asked for.

While I understand that it is highly convenient to place your photo's of the event on Facebook, please refrain from posting pictures of my 'twin sister' there. If you see any pictures of her, please ask the poster to remove them. Facebook is a very public place. Not that the pictures were of any thing highly scandalous, but some things at TMAC should stay at TMAC.

 oops. All gone now.

Deer? Deer? Man we saw sasquatch himself jog past the microtel.

That was something you don't expect to see while changing tires and Reg/rectifier...

Anybody have any go-kart racing pics? My wife doesn't believe me...
