Question about 6th Generation front and rear stands

I need front and rear stands for my 6th Generation (2006) VFR. Obviously the pit-bull stands come highly recommended but I noticed that they don't have casters. I would prefer a quality stand with casters as my objective is to wheel the bike around the garage to make room for my other toys. I suspect casters would permit me more ease and flexibility in moving the VFR around as needed but perhaps someone can correct me if this assumption is wrong?

In short, what are the best quality front and rear stands available that will permit me to easily wheel the Viffer into the corner of the garage when idle? Thanks in advance!

Tom

HF offers something similar to what you refer but the whole bike sits on it..

? Dutchy ? Has a device that the centerstand sits in and allows you to move it around although Im not sure who makes it..

Is this the HF dolly you are referring to: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=95896

Does anyone here have any experience with it? The centerstand device sounds intriguing...Bueller? anyone?

That center stand thing is cool, but $199 bucks? WTF?? That harbor frieght one would be cool if it kept the bike upright. Damn I should just build one and sell it. <img src='http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Wish they'd make these for the 6th Gen...

I don't have the experience with the VFR since i'm just picking it up this weekend. However, I have LOVED my Pit Bull stands I've used with GSXR's and my Ducati.

A free option and what I do, but do at your own risk as you could tip the bike over.

I get my bike in the corner of my garage close to where I want it. Then for me, I'm standing on the left side of the bike with the bike on the centerstand, I can grab the right passenger peg and lift slightly, push with my knee of the frame just in front of the rear cowl and slide the bike all the way to the wall. Then just drag it away from the wall and go. Another benefit of this method is you can spin the bike in a circle by simply pushing down on the rear seat enough to raise the front tire off the ground but not touch down the rear tire and turning the bike. Makes garage moving much much easier.

You may want to google the Park-N-Move stand.

One vendor website: http://www.pashnit.com/product/park-n-move.html

It's a low cradle with 4 casters which you put under the center stand. Once you

have it up you can slide it sideways as only the front tire is on the ground keeping

you from moving the bike. The video shows them pushing down on the seat to

lift the front tire off the ground, then the bike moves any direction you want.

The stand is very pricey at $200. I lucked into one on Ebay for $130 shipped. The

owner had bought it for a Goldwing and found it too hard to get it up on the center

stand using the dolly.

The VFR goes up fine but it is harder than just using the center stand. The dolly

is 1/2" high under the stand and that changes the dynamics of where the stand

is on the gournd vs where the wheels are. One suggestion I saw was to run the

rear tire up onto a 3/4" board and that makes it much easier to lift. You really need

a 8" wide board or a sheet of plywood. I used a 1"x4"x1' board and had to be

careful the bike didn't slip off the side of the board, so I make do without the board

and don't have a problem.

You unlock the casters to put the bike on the stand and lock them before rocking

it off the stand.

With this stand I can point the bike diagonal in the garage behind the Camaro,

put it on the stand then slide it sideways parallel the rear bumper.

I think this is the best money I spent and would even say that I think it may even

be worth the full list price. I did glue a rubber sheet to the top so the center stand

doesn't chew up the paint job.

I did talk to a friend at work about welding one up out of 1/4" steel plate. Shouldn't

be too hard if you look at the picture. $30 for locking casters, a sheet of steel for

the base and 4 angled legs that would have to be heat bent and welded to the plate.

This went on the back burner when I won the one on Ebay. He is still considering

making 2-3 for use with the families bikes in the garage.. If anyone is interested

in making one, I can give you dimensions of mine.

The model I have is the cruiser model with 3" double-wheel casters for low slung

bikes. The sport model has 4" single-wheel casters.

Just get the Pit Bull stands, really how often do you roll your bike around the garage?? and it only takes a second to put the bike on or take the stands off...roll the bike around on it's own wheels, and then you'll have two good stands for when you need them, not some gimicky POS that doesn't work well for anything.

My own preference would be to get the pitbull front stand that lifts from underneath the triple, not the fork lowers.....it's much more secure, and you can do more with it!! :fing02:

Good Luck!!
