The ergo Turned out to be usable(seat comfy), but the bike puts out so much heat, my Feet were on fire , my thighs were on fire, and I could feel the heat uder the seat, just way to much heat to be enjoyable, so that bike is crossed off the list.
I did really appreciate the test ride though, it aided me alot, before I laid down money.
Looks like cbr 1000 or zx 10 ,, any comment on those two?

I would have preferred the yamaha crossplane crank engine but the dealers here were doing good deals on the '11 model blade and I got the RWB HRC colours which I really like.
The only minor beef is that it is a noisy engine, especially at idle due to the gear driven balance shaft and low crankshaft mass, but that is improving with more Ks on it.
Its not a touring bike though, but its OK for 300-400ks at a stretch. Fuelling is faultless and economy is better than the VFR.

Honda makes alot of motor noise, humm. Id rather have a Honda than a Kaw, but I think the layout room on the Kaw is more similar to the R1(i like), I will ride both at some point. They cost too much nowadays to gamble, and the older I get the pickier.

I"m in south central Texas, so its already very hot much of the year, I didnt need that added heat. For canadians and Northerners, Im sure the heat is much less an issue. Course R1 could be a Great Winter riding bike, for those 30 degree mornings

I think the Vfr v4 sounds good, but the R1 sounded more like an open piped Ghetto 4 banger car. I could live with the motor sound, but riding on top of a Furnace was too much.

Interesting you say that because the R1 (crossplane) fires at the exact same intervals as the VFR800 (90 degree V4 with 180 degree crank). 180-90-180-270
Heat is completely taken care of once you remove the cat, which causes all that heat. A $175 Y Pipe (which also derestricts the exhaust) solves the issue.

The Motor sound on the R1 does not impress me at all, sounds like a Redneck open piped 4 banger, Much rather have the Inline 4 sound.

Really? I think it sounds more like a v4 because of the crossplane crank. They call it a " virtual v4"
I was watching a video of several r1s going up palomar, and there was one gsxr in there, and the yamahas had a wonderful raspy low burble instead of the shrieking sewing machine of the "normal" inline 4s.

We strongly recommend that you use only genuine Honda accessories that have been specifically designed and tested for your motorcycle. We strongly advise you not to remove any original equipment or modify your motorcycle in any way that would change its design or operation. Such changes could seriously impair your motorcycles handling, stability and braking, making it unsafe to ride.

The VFR motor, to me is much more refined, the r1 reminded me of a Vega with glass packs. That wasnt the deal killer, as much as the heat it puts out in South Texas summer.
JUst too much, I only rode it for about 25 minutes and didnt want anymore, just nothing of interest at all with that bike.
